Hey guys,
I have a lot of noise coming from my steering column when going over bumps or down a dirt road with bumps. Truck has stable steering though with little play. I think this DIY will fix the issue but uncertain how much I really have to take apart. The Airbag thing is scary also as it is a little bomb. I do have access to a welder unit but have no welding experience myself. Can I just spot weld this thing without taking everything apart? Leaving panels and all attached? I can see the steering linkage when I look under the dash. I have a guy who can help me weld or weld it himself. Would it be safe welding this inside the truck with the airbag? I would protect the interior some how from the sparks.
Not being lazing here but just cleaned out the interior yesterday taking out seats and panels and it was a major pain. Given that this is the lower dash area I can see it being even more of a pain. Also kind of intimidated by the amount of wires and the airbag. Would just like to avoid taking the whole thing apart.
Here is the link of what I'm looking to do...

Thanks for the help and let me know if anyone has or had similar issues with their steering. Would like to hear your solution.
Thanks,
