Steering Rack Pressure Fitting Issue

The fitting pictured has messed up threads. My plan is to cut the bad fitting off, hit the junk yard for another fitting, then replace and reflare. Has anybody done this? Any advice? Can I order a new fitting instead of a junkyard one?

You can buy a length of tubing at you local autoparts store with fittings for a few dollars and a tube bender for another few dollars and make your own custom part. I did this with my front brake hard lined that connects the caliper to the rubber line.:clap2:

To cut and re-flare that you would need to straighten the bend out of the tube to push the fitting on enough to get the flaring tool on it. You also need the right kind of flare for 10mm tube. Your time is too valuable to spend it in a junkyard cutting a fitting off a hard to get at steering rack then trying to flare it on to your old line. Just buy a new pressure hose and if you are going to go the junkyard route get the whole hose hopefully out of a 4runner with the engine already out of it.
