Steering rod recall

Just dropped off my t4r off at the dealer to have the recall done on it. We'll see how it goes when I go pick it up at the end of the day.

Your info says you have a '95 4runner. Did they put out a recall on a 17 year old part?? Or do you have a new rig??

I entered in my VIN and it says it's not a valid Toyota VIN

I just did a quick search on google and found this other site where others where also having problems with their VIN number not showing valid on Toyotas' website. Might want to maybe call the dealership service deptarment and see if they can square you away on it. Here is the link where I read they too were having problems with their VIN number:

VIN check worked...says I don't have a problem (that's not what my shrink says..but) Says no recall for my 94...hmmmmm

I remember getting a notice in the mail for my old '94 for this. I never did have it done, and never had any problems, either--I kinda' looked at it this way, if the darn thing already made it over 200k miles, it's proven itself to be every bit as strong as the rest of the hardware. But, I guess if it's free, what the hey...

Cool, good info. My buddy drives a '95, and I am pretty sure he knows nothing about this issue. I shall spread the word.

Got my truck back with the new steering rod and free alignment....I paid $0.
I'm amazed that this recall is still being honored hassle free.

I had this recall performed about 10 months myself. Right after I had new tres installed. Free alignment! :frog:
