steering stabilizer for my 96 4runner

I've had my 96 4runner since is got shipped over seas from Japan. Its been great to me never had any problems. But now that i have put a lift on it and bigger tires my steering isn't what it use to be. So Ive looked into steering stabilizers for it. and so far Ive found the actually steering stabilizer itself but not any mounting brackets. can anybody help me out??

We have rack and pinion steering, and no steering stabilizer is required.

You do need to get an alignment though after doing ANYTHING with the suspension. Your toe in and camber are probably off, and even just a half a degree of toe-in will throw off your steering big time.

If you already did that, I'd go to another shop. Preferably a shop that specializes in alignments only.

Other things you can do is replace the steering rack bushings with polyurethane bushings, replacing the tie rod ends, ball joints, etc...

Your 96 is a 3rd gen 4runner. Third gens have rack and pinion steering racks. Rack and Pinion steering do not need dampers.

If you have loose feeling steering it is probably due to one or more:
Steering rack bushings (replace with poly ones)
Steering rack guide
Tie rod ends (inner and/or outer)
Ball joints (upper and/or lower)
Control arm bushings (upper and/or lower)
Worn out shocks
Alignment

i do need an alignment that's for sure. im putting my new lift kit on soon so hopefully that will show great improvement.

i know the steering dampers/stabilizers aren't necessary but i would like to put one on. i will look into everything you guys have suggested.

You're missing the point, a steering stabilizer won't work on your 4Runner. I would do all the items listed above, they're not that much money. Then go get it aligned. If you do them after you'll just need to get it aligned again.

There's nowhere to mount a steering stabilizer on a rack and pinion runner.
