Steering wheel controls for new head unit

Just got a Pioneer stereo along with a PAC SWI-RC for steering wheel controls. Can someone provide specifics to install this? In the instructions it says to connect one wire to a pin for the steering wheel controls and I'm not clear on whether it should also be connected to ground. How did you guys do this? Did you solder the wires?

Can someone clear this up?

if i were you, i switch that out and get a idatalink maestro , they do have a guide to help install, also easier to program.
but back your install,
the white wire on the pac sw goes to pin 7 on the harness which is Violet/White
on the pac white/black goes to pin 8 on toyota which is Yellow/Black
on the toyota pin 6 White/Red connect that to ground.
let us know what wire color does the pac wire have
you can ground all the blacks together to radio harness, if you use t taps, just make sure its a good solid connection, the red wire, hook that back to radio red harness, ive been using t taps and i make sure its a good connection. others might solder, or cut the necessary wire and butt connect them.

If your INTERFACE has a White/Black wire:Connect the INTERFACE's White wire to Pin 7 of the vehicle connector. Connect Pin 8 directly to the White/Black wire. Connect the wire in Pin 6 to chassis ground. If your INTERFACE
does not have a White/Black wire: Connect the INTERFACE's White wire to Pin 7 of the vehicle connector. Connect one end of a 560 ohm resistor to Pin 8, then connect the other end of the resistor to the INTERFACE's White
wire. Connect the wire in Pin 6 to chassis ground.

Thanks! got it working. Easier than I thought once I saw all the wires. Is the idatalink that much better? I'm not noticing any issues with the pac at the moment.
