Steering wheel noise when turning

So when I am turning my wheel I have a very slight noise that almost sounds like a bearing isn't properly lubed or something. On happens when turning and seems to have no other affect on steering. It just a slight noise. Anyone have any ideas? Im a little nervous to start taking it apart because airbag.

Also, I have a rattle in what sounds like the exhaust at low rpms. 2004 v6 w/155000. My mechanic thinks its the cat that has gone bad and things are rattling around in there. I live in nyc and don't really highway drive much so I could see it effecting the cats with such low rpm always. Thoughts?

Figured out?

I have a similar noise, but mine is more clanking. I disconnected battery, took off air bag, and there is indeed, a piece of metal that's not attached to anything. Is this your problem? The part is all metal, and weighs about 8 ounces.

Thank you for posting this. Mine just came loose today, must be from the AZ heat. How did you secure it? Epoxy?
