Hi all,
I hit a pothole today with the passenger front wheel. This caused my steering wheel to be offset to the right (see attached image) when heading straight. If I straighten out the wheel to what it normally used to be, I will go to the left.
With another person underneath, checked both wheels during steering and checked the universal. Nothing seems loose or out of whack.
When I turn the steering wheel to the right, there is a slight rubbing which makes you think you're having a hard time steering but in reality its just a rub. Happens for a 1/8 of a turn of the wheel to the right and then the steering wheel feels free. I took off the plastic around the steering wheel to make sure that it wasn't the problem and its not. Rubbing is coming from in the column somewhere but more in the cabin area as the noise could not be heard underneath.
Also, now during driving at some point, my 3 lights (skidding car, vsc trac and vsc off) pop on. If I turn off the car and start it back up, they are off. But then they'll come on again. This did not happen prior to the pothole.
Any idea on what may be wrong? I have no issue turning left or right in any capacity, no noise from the wheels. Acceleration and braking are fine.
I do feel a slight pull to the left.
None of this was like this prior to the pothole, but who's to say with all the mileage on there, something could have been going on and the pothole just brought it out.
Tire is ok, rim is not cracked (aluminum).
