They finally replaced my tire last week. That pretty much cured the flutter and the wandering. I still have a slight pull to the left that I may have them address. If they can't get that out, I'll take it to a hot-shot alignment shop, have them fix it, then bring the spec sheet back to the dealer.
But for now, it's 98% better than it was.

Some times when a tire is out of balance Spec. they try to cover it with extra weights inside the wheel where they are not seen without crawling under the truck or auto.
My 08 4Runner bought new with Bridgestones had been sitting in the lot for a long time. When we test drove it on highway at 70 mph there was a slight vibration, as soon as the tires warmed up it was gone and has not returned.

BTW - They FINALLY fixed the alignment issues. Apparently, Toyota's alignment specs are WAY too consevative in their caster settings. Our dealership moved to a brand new building with brand new alignment equipment. When my wife brought it in again, she happened to strike up a discussion with the owner while the service manager was sitting in the owner's office. They both jumped right on it. As it turned out, the service manager had the same problem with his FJ and new just how to tweak it.
They realigned it, still within specs, but must have pushed the caster angle near the top of the range allowed by Toyota. That made all the difference in the world. No more pull and the wandering and getting pushed all over by every little imperfection in the road is pretty much gone.
Props to Teton Toyota for their diligence and service-mindedness!

i have to say when i bought my '06 V8 i had the problem of the vibration in the wheel when i would accelerate. the dealer rebalanced all 4 tires and the problem went away. i have michelins on it and even the shop stated that this is the quietest 4 runner they have ever driven.
now i am getting a wheel "wiggle" after 65 mph. the steering wheel moves back and forth about 1/2" after 65 mph. guess it is back to the dealer again. ive only had this a week. i bought this vehicle so i would not have these problems.

The vibration in the steering wheel kicked in at about 65 mph. I brought the vehicle to the dealer. They did a 4 wheel alignment and the vibration is now gone.

i have a toy 2000 4runner, initially started with vibration occurring between 40-50 mph and 65+ mph. also had weird vibration/engine revving sound when gas released after 60 mph... was not severe initially, did wheel balance, changed brakes (which i needed anyways), replace fuel injector. it did not fix the issue and the vibration got even worse at 65+ mph. mechanic finally pin pointed the issue to the drive shaft and u-joint. this resolved the issue, hope it helps.

I have a 2008 V8 Limited with the same problem as LP 4Runner - a slight but annoying hum in the steering wheel at around 1700 rpm - and wonder whether the Lexus TSB would be likely to fix mine as well.
My local Toyota dealer was going to do the Lexus TSB work at my expense, but was subsequently advised by Toyota that the vibration is characteristic of the vehicle and that the Lexus TSB will not fix it.
I am considering getting the parts and having the work done at an independent service shop.
Any advice?

An update - Performing the Lexus TSB on my 2008 4Runner Limited V8 solved my steering wheel vibration problem.
I had the following Lexus parts installed at an independent service facility:
41196-60010 DAMPER, FRONT DIFFERENTIAL DYNAMIC
91511-80820 BOLT, FLANGE (2 REQUIRED)
52380-60061 SUPPORT, FRONT DIFFERENTIAL, NO.1
45219-60090 YOKE, STEERING SLIDING
45203-60120 SHAFT SUB-ASSY, STRG
I did not need the following part as my 2008 already had it:
51405-35101 COVER SUB-ASSY, ENGINE UNDER, NO.1
The steering wheel hum is *eliminated* and I am now 100% happy with my 4Runner, and not so much with the Toyota service organization. Needless to say, I will no longer be servicing my 4Runner at Toyota - through either ignorance or dishonesty, they have lost a long time customer.

sorry to resurrect an old thread but do you happen to still have those specs? im having the wandering issue along with a wheel shimmy and its pulling left now. Reno Toyota did my alignment when they installed my leveling kit but its still not right. Figured if i can bring some specs to somebody they can align it to the minor changes over the factory settings.

I've started to get a steering wheel shake at around 60mph which only lasts for about 5 minutes and then completely goes away. I'm just trying to find a possible cause and I'm finding a lot of threads related to this original post, just not sure if I'm having the same symptoms.
Initially I thought it was ice build up on the wheels, but it's been dry here for several days. I just started getting the issue 2 days ago. Any ideas?

skinny pedal-induced steering vibes = dead CV joint
I solved my "steering" vibes recently by replacing the front axle shafts. I was pretty convinced the source of the problem was in the drive-line, and when we pull the axles the condition of the CV joints explained everything. The boots appeared to be in good condition (previous owner had replaced them not terribly long ago) but upon closer inspection neither boot was solidly clamped down. One CV joint was just full of rusty water, and would "catch" on each rotation, and it was all hidden by nice looking boots.
