no, unlike Northfacer over at yt i only did my doors. his goes from wheel well to wheel well and down, including lower rockers plus his sliders. not bagging his job but looking at the finished product today made me glad i only did the doors.

that looks pretty cool. Before I even found this site I was thinking about doing that to help improve some chipping paint issues on my lower door rocker panel area. No rust just chipping paint. I'm a bit scared to do it though as this is my daily driver.
Herculiner is basically the same thing as Rhino Liner right?
You have to sand both the plastic bumpers and the paint off the doors and rockers right? How long did this project take you to do?

yeah herculiner is just a do-it-yourself rhino lining, no idea of quality difference though. i'm guessing your referring to the stock painted bumpers when you say "both plastic bumpers". i had the chrome bumpers. i couldn't find anyone who had done this to the chrome bumpers before so i just took the same basic tips from the painted write ups. one thing: some might disagree, but after excessive sanding and scruffing of bumpers, there was hardly a physical difference. and condsidering this stuff sticks to everything (including my hands and bottom of feet for about 32 hours so far), i'm confident that the sanding portion of the chrome bumper prep is unecessary. i'd say with prep and coats you're looking at about 3 hours. this is minus the approx. 12 hours to let each coat harden. i've only put on one coat all around so far and it looks perfect minus 1 or two inconsistencies.

yeah the first thing that prompted me to consider the doors was the fact that i had ran over a can of primer next to campus and there are a few splatters right above the rockers. the grille was not done, i ripped the chrome off of my grille and coated it with the same glossy black rustoleum i used to beautify my trailer hitch (props to fireteacher for the tip). i saw the guy who did the bumper and grille border and i think i'd still rather have my black grille.
couple things after my experience:
if you're outside doing this with a slight breeze and on a budget, the fumage isn't bad enough to require a mask.
for the love of God, buy protective gloves! i picked up a 10 pk of blue latex ones for under five bucks, and it definitely saves you from dirty hands.
to be on the safe side, extend the tape off area with about a 6 inches of newspaper to ensure no stray rolls get on the paint.
mix this stuff up well and do each coat as quickly as possible without sacrificing the quality, the stuff dries fairly quickly, set the pan in the shade to slow it down

right on, good stuff. We are expecting cold weather here so I may have to hold off until the next 50 degree heat wave hits.

only half of the picture is loading, but i'm assuming thats the section right above the rocker? you'll have to find a suitable tape off point either directly underneath the interior door sills or just tape it off somewhere else. i have the same chipping problem in that area so somewhere down the line i'm sure i'll do it as well.

did you have any issues with the door seams? Or did you just roll over them and then razor blade any areas that might of been "connected"? I would imagine it would just fall into the cracks and not be an issue, but it sure would suck to have your door herculined shut. lol Or rip off a piece that was slightly sttached to the bottom part.
I really am looking forward to doing this, as well as my grill. Do you think I woul dneed to take my grill off to line it as well or just tape it off and do it on the runner?

actually i didn't even think about the door sills, i didn't have a problem though. i had my doors open long enough through the drying process where it wouldn't have adhered to anything, plus i was pretty precise about keeping the paint where i wanted it.
as far as the grille goes, it's the best idea to take it off. not only can you reach the sides and such on the grille, but you can paint more of the bumper that the grille usually covers up. when you put the grille back on, it looks a hell of a lot better when there aren't any visible paint lines

can you take more pics of the doors please? im wondering what the finish is like i.e. is it uniform? smooth? does it look professional? i also want to know how it looks against the black from a distance and up close, i have concrete on my lower rockers and lower doors and am thinking of just going from my ARB up front paint the fender flares and lower doors + rockers and perhaps the rear bumper also

sorry about the quality, its my cell phone and like i said before its been raining. i tried to wipe away some of the dirt so you can see the line, but it looks so fluid its hard to tell, even when its clean. as long as your tape job is precise you'll definitely be pleased
