Stereo head substitution question. Help!

97 153k, just breaking her in.

I got an amazing idea and I am having trouble knowing if it is possible. I want to take out my stereo head, put in a computer with an external hard drive full of mp3s. Can I do this?

Here's my approach. There's a few tablets that have 2 usb jacks, ideally one to the hard drive, and 1 to a splitter that connects to the wiring harness for the actual car audio.

I know there are types of stereo heads that just bus signals, condense and disperse them etc, though I'm not an expert. Is there a compact device/connector that can take the usb signal from the tablet, and bus it to the actual car stereo connectors? I'm imagining a simple connector/relay/small cheap head unit. If one doesn't exist, is is possible for me to make one?

Also is there any way I can get a diagram that has all the wiring and where it goes? Anyone have anything like that?

Part of my problem is I don't want all the USB wires hanging out of the front. I have an ipod already that I can plug in and everything but it's just a mess.

There are some head units with USB jacks in the back. I don't remember specific models but I remember seeing them when I was shopping for mine. Crutchfield is the best place to start, they answer calls & emails quick and know a whole lot about their products.
