Keeping going back and forth on options, but was curious if anyone has ran one of those new-ish mirrors that have Apple CarPlay and just take advantage of the factory aux-in?

Sorry for the (probably) very stupid (newbie here), but what is Maestro? A software for pulling info from your 4Runner?
It is an add on so your steering wheel and data from your OBD port can communicate with the head unit.

Go to Crutchfield, do the "what fits my car" thing and pick a double DIN radio (AA/CP compatible recommended for most accuracy). C'field
Well I finally decided to do something and went a different direction than most. I am really really happy with the results.
Instead of replacing my headunit I added one of those Apple CarPlay/Dashcam mirrors. I simply have the aux wire routed through the headliner and into my factory aux-in. Sound quality actually seems great. Added bonus is my fridge and rear tire carrier totally blocks my back window, so with the rear camera I can see out the back finally! You can set the mirror up to be half camera (either front or rear), half CarPlay or full screen CarPlay. I will likely keep it CarPlay and rear camera to use it as a digital rear view mirror.
Here is a link to what I the one I bought (actually bought a few and kept the one that seemed the best quality) and a few photos.

I really enjoy my Pioneer DMH-1700NEX. Has car play and so much more. They go on sale a ton too so you can pick it up pretty cheap. I bought a harness from Crutchfield.
Do you still like this unit? I am looking to put one into my 2010 Limited.
(Corrected model #) I recently installed the Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX [crutchfield.com]
- It has wireless CarPlay and wireless Android Auto.
- It allowed me to keep my steering wheels controls and add phone controls to steering wheel.
- Also bought the kit to connect the unit to be able to read tire pressure and battery voltage.

Hey - Quoting a fairly old post, but curious which trim kit this is.
Researching some of the older threads, a lot of the trim kits did not look as sleek.
Did you ever move this dead center and back?I'll take some more tomorrow.
I'm changing the position so it fits dead center, I just like the way it looks more![]()
