I Have a couple different stickers that I want to put on the back window of my 3rd gen. Problem is, I dont know if the will peel off when I roll it down. Has anyone had any experience with this?

You should have no problem at all. i have a sticker on my back window and its just fine when i roll the window down. There is actually a lot of people with stickers on the back window... i think you'll be good

I'm sure it will vary a little with back windows and how firmly the rubber seal is against the glass. I'd try a sticker that you really don't care about just to test it. I'm going to do that with mine in the next week.

i have multiple stickers on my back window which are all die cut and i have not had any problems with them peeling off

im not sure if this is true with all or most runners, but the window doesnt touch the seal when it goes down. try this....just put it down an inch or so. you should see how the window moves away from the seal before it moves

I was just about to write that. When I put the T4R sticker on, I noticed the window moves away from the seal when you lower it and when you close it you can see it goes snug to the seal only at the very end. Try it on your 4Runner before you buy all the stickers, my guess you will see exactly what I mean when you are standing there watching the window.

Sorry, about a second post. This is what I wrote in 2004 when I started the "Sticker Picture" thread.

OK, I tried the window 10 to 12 times. After the second time I tired it I noticed something; the back window eases off the back frame first and then rolls down. When going up, the window at the last 1/4 of a inch, the frame presses back into the window. I put my finger against the window to confirm what my eyes were seeing. Sure enough the window backs off the frame thereby letting the sticker go by without binding or coming off.

So I don't think I will ever have a problem with the sticker on back. REMEMBER, I have a 3rd generation someone with a 4th generation will have to see if it does the same thing.:)

my back window makes a rattling/scraping sound when it goes down. i dont wanna take the thing apart to figure out whats wrong, but does anyone else have a similar experience?

have you recently had a lot of mud or sand or other particle on your window becaus if you roll it down with stuff on it it will make a screeching noise

ok, so i took apart the tailgate yesterday. heres what i found:
dont ask me how, but theres a decent amount of rust back there. I lubed up the gears and slides for the regulator. I think the noise isnt rubbing parts at all, but the coil spring is just warped so it makes loud noises when the window goes up or down as its being bent out of shape due to its warped condition. I put some penetrating oil on it and its a little quieter, but i think it probably needs to be replaced. Only thing is i dont know where i can just get a coil spring, most everywhere just sells a whole brand new regulator assembly.

ive had two 4runners, a 97 and a 2000, my 97 seemed to pick the stickers it liked. I had two stickers that stayed on it for a year and a half then i had some that wouldnt last but a few weeks. Dont know if it was due to the actual sticker or if some parts of the window encountered the rubber more than others. On my 2000 model the stickers seem to be fine and are not peeling. So maybe this ones just not as picky. Guess it just depends on your runners personality.
