If I were you I would find some 16" FJ alloys. I think they also used them on the '09 trail edition 4runner as well. Just throwing that out there.

definitely the FJ rims. IMO they're a huge aesthetic improvement over the sr5 16 inchers and they're pretty darn cheap for a new set of wheels

So FJ rims are the way to go? FWI I have 2" lift in front and a .5" lift in the back with the FJ suspension. Any tire recommendations that are an AT tire?

Still using my stock rims w/spidertrax. IMHO new wheels don't add any performance benefit so money is better spent elsewhere. Asthetically new wheels are sweet! I like my GY Duratracs, got them in October, been through several pretty good dumps and haven't been in the ditch yet (which is nice).

Most people on these forums seems to like these all-terrain tires. I would suggest getting a 265/70/17, it will fill out the wheel wells nicely with your FJ springs.

I personally like the stock 16" SR5 wheels much better than the FJs. Jason at Demello Offroad has them on his 4th Gen wrapped in 35" BFG ATs and looks good. If you wheel, 16" offer a couple advantages over 17's; mainly more sidewall when aired down and usually tires are cheaper for 16" wheels.

I'm very pleased running the 17" FJ rims with Dueler AT Revo 2's in the stock size.

The wheels are a hit because they're cheap (can usually be had ~$300) and they have a better offset, setting the wheels out about 3/4'' wider, giving the car a wider, more aggressive stance.

the springs are also cheap (can be had for about $50) and give a mild lift, while improving ride quality by firming up the suspension a bit.

so basically it boils down to the FJ parts just being cheap and available.

I'm very happy with my FJ suspension. It was cheap and relatively easy to install.

I got the FJ wheels and I'm also using 1.25 spacers The 06-09 can take .5 more than the previous 03+. With the 2.5 lift 265/70 or 255/75 is about it. a 275/70 will be a little big I think. I found the rear easy to deal with the front requires a bit more work.

Sold my spacers and went fj. They're a better offset and less rubbing than sport wheels and spacers.

I originally bought 17' FJ wheels to use as my winter rims. Turns out I love em so much I'm going to start using them in the summer. Between the styling and offset, I find they look more aggressive.
