Stock Center Caps

Anyone running WITHOUT the center caps? Mine are crappy and don't feel like painting them right now. Look dumb or ok?

Looks dumb. Like if you had a passenger car and the hub caps fall off sort of dumb.

All you need is a can of primer and some gun metal wheel paint. Would take you just a couple of hours of time, most of which you're just waiting for paint to dry! I did it on a 4Runner I just sold and it made a big difference.

Yeah, I figured. I put em back on (after installing my Spidertrax). I think I'm just going to paint all my wheels together, center caps included. Down the road though, not right now. If I'm going to do it, I'm going to take the time and do it nice.

I run stock split spokes without centers, looks fine to me.

I've had no center caps for over a year and I don't think it looks dumb at all.

Do you seriously care what other people think about your truck to the point you made a post about your own decisions?

no center caps here either....on the fns or on my wife's split 3's.

if you give the drums and front covers a good coat of black paint it doesn't look bad at all!

I don't care what other people think about my truck, it's what looks good to me. It's like driving a car without hubcaps, it looks like crap. If you think you're wheels look badass without center caps more power to you. Plenty of guys here don't have them. The OP asked for opinions.

Oh no, not that at all. Guess my fault for not phrasing the question right. I searched a bit for pictures so I could get an idea without [lazy] doing the work, deciding I didn't like it, and then doing the work AGAIN. That's all. Should have phrased the question more like, "Anyone have pictures....." etc.

But, I guess thanks for the "helpful contribution" to the question?

The actual center caps is Toyota part# PTR45-34071. I bought them from amazon for $11.34 each, using prime- free shipping & 2 day delivery. I think you can get them from some of the online Toyota dealers for about $8ea. I used my existing centers. Cut a hole using a 3 1/8" hole saw, about $10 at Home Depot. I used a cordless drill with the hole saw. The TRD caps will snap into the opening that you cut & will fit flush.

in addition from my above post...

Not sure if you'll care, but the rims pictured are off a Sequoia which I refinished and painted at the same time as the centre caps. The centre caps are off my original 4Runner "split 3" rims which fit, without a problem, into the 17" Sequoia rims (and 265/65/17 Winter tires). I like the look of these with my Tundra brake upgrade!

My Summer rims are stock 02' LTD rims ("5 stars") I polished and refinished them. With these, I used the centre caps from the Sequoia rims. They fit but not as easily as the others.

When I acquired these rims, they came with what I believe are either Tacoma or early model Tundra centre caps.

I liked the Sequoia ones so I went with those.

I've got a set of Land Cruiser wheels on mine and I actually like them better without the center caps.
