Stock ground clearance?

Hey just wondering what the stock ground clearance on the v6 4wd 98's??
I'm thinking about dropping an inch on the wheel size and getting more aggressive tires.
Hoping to sorta wheel without spending $2000 on a lift... And I don't wanna mess with my mileage because I want to take a road trip soon and dropping 4 mpgs adds up over. 3500 miles of driving. :)

And the stock tire size is 31.6" right? Or close to...

So dropping an inch means that you want to go to smaller tires than stock? I personally wouldn't go any less than stock. I think when they made the vehicle they chose that size for a reason, because of the best performance all around. I want others to chime in too though.
 
Stock ground clearance is approx 9".
remember that your speedo will be off if you go with smaller tires vs lowering.
 
The smaller wheels to fit a more aggressive tire underneath without a lift. Unless there's 32" rubber that's aggressive and will fit around the 16" wheels...?
 
265/75/16 are 31.7 inches. I'm running this size in duratracs and love them. I get 17 mpg with these and got the same before I changed tires. It is my belief that fuel efficiency only changes based on how you drive. Lol. Apparently I drive terribly.

I was looking at that tire size. Do you have any lift?
Yes proper tuneups and driving 65 lead to good mileage? Haha no the speed limit is 65. I find myself doing 75-80 like everyone else. XD I hate being that guy ya know?
Mmmmm 265/75r16 BFG's are $166 at my local Walmart...
 
The 265/75/16 will fit with no lift and will compress to the bumpstops with little to no rubbing. If you add wheel spacers, you will probably lightly rub. This is a great size and there are tons of tire choices. From ATs to aggressive MTs. They are still a reasonable price too.

This is the size I run even with my lift. You might drop a little gas mileage but not much. I regularly get about 19 mpg but also see up to 22-24 mpg.

Without lifting, armor is even more important (sliders and skids).
 
The Kid ran 285/75-16 with no lift for years. They do rub but with a little pounding, you can make them fit. When not lifted, the 285s don't tend to rub on the front upper control arms. When you lift, the arm rotates into the sidewall.

Remember that even if you have a suspension lift, and it is flexible enough to fully stuff to the bumpstops. The tires are going to rub in the same spots as if you had no lift. A lifted rig will just not rub as often.

I do not have any sort of lift and haven't rubbed yet. no issues at all other than having way more grip than I was used to.

He did run 285's but he also had no fenders either. Just so you have that bit of info when deciding what to do. Personally 32's are big enough for me to get most anywhere I need to go.
 
I have 29" tires and routinely get 12-14mpg (before compensating for tire size) :becky: That's good right?
 
Thanks for the info guys :) can use that money id spend on a lift on all the armour I could wish for. Haha.
I NEED a front skid seeing as I currently have NO protection. Smashed it up on a fire hydrant!
 
I did the tundra/ lc coil lift and have $300 +/- a few in my lift. I clear 285 75 16 and get about 20-22 on the freeway.
