stock rims, whats the widest i can go in tire size?

I have a 4x2, i hit up dirt trails in my area, no serious off-roading, i am looking for wider tires on the stock suspension that wont cause any rubbing but still good for a daily driving, id like to go as wide as possible, i want that aggressive look. any ideas?

right now i have 265/70r17 from the dealership

I thought i read somewhere that the widest tire you can put on the stock rims is 7 inches. Some guys mentioning putting 7.5 inches on, and then some other dudes found literature from bridgestone or whatever that said don't go past 7 inches.

Don't quote me on that, but at least we can get the conversation going.

275/70/17's are as big as you can go without rubbing on the 5ths.
