STOCK trans temp sender?

Curious if anyone knows where the stock sender is located and if I could run my autometer gauge off of that rather than the inline sender 5 feet away...

Passenger side of the tranny, right above the hard lines carrying the fluid to the ATF cooler and back.

If you had the right thread count, sure, I would think so. I don't know the ramifications though of not having the sensor plugged in.

I was just wondering if there may be a way to piggyback off of the stock sender for an aftermarket gauge. I'll poke around with my meter and see what it looks like.

I've never dealt with mine but according to my map, it's down on the tranny near the 02 sensor. Grey 2 pin plug. Can't find any specs on the sensor, but since it sends an Analog signal to the ECM, you likely won't be able to power the Autometer off of it too.

Hmm, guess I won't bother then. It would be nice to locate my sender there though, I think as long as the stock sensor is in no way associated with the way the truck runs and merely there to let you know when it gets too hot I would think it could be removed and mounted anywhere else out of the way, while still connected ofcourse.
