Storage for 4Runner

On my FJ, I was using a SpringTail Storage Rack for all my storage.

What is the best solution to store tools, flashlight, jumper cables, etc. for when I need them? I would like to see what everyone is using for their storage solutions.

I'm right there with you. I love the Runner but am a little bummed there aren't at least a couple compartments for things.
I've thought of adapting my old FJ's mpac gear on it but I've got to think about how it would look best.

I have a canvas bag with the tools, jumper cables, a small compressor, etc. that just lives in the back. I feel no need for a permanent compartment.

I would love to see a picture @Yotta

Um, I guess I can snap one, but it's not going to be anything exciting -- it is, literally, a small military-green canvas bag with a zipper and two handles :-) There is a small Viair compressor inside and a variety of semi-useful junk...

I have the same 'tools' as yotta in my 4runner -I got a small $16 compressor from walmart, jump cables, a handsfree LED flashlight with headstrap-useful when changing spare tires, fire extinguisher, etc
I was thinking of adding a storage compartment but lately, i have been favoring adding a toyota oem cargo net spider for the tools that currently dont have a storage box. I already have the cargo net envelope
that I use to hold a football, basketball ,baseball and soccer ball. I have not yet explored if there are 3rd-party cargo nets. You can see them here: Toyota 4Runner Accessories
The reason I am now favoring the cargo nets is that if I need to load groceries or luggage, its easy to just pull out the cargo net that holds the tools with one hand.
However, if you favor a more rigid storage compartment, theres a lot of ideas out there including really nice homebuilt cabinets featured in several threads in this forum.

Assuming you have one like on my '13 Trail....Did you consider using the "hidden" compartment in the floor right behind the second row of seats?

I saw that the other day in the Things you didn't know about your 4runner thread, but I would like a lot more space than that. On my FJ Cruiser, I had my Springtail rack full of stuff. Once you start getting used to carrying around everything, its hard to stop.

What I really would like to do is incorporate the sliding tray, and somehow take out it to replace it with a storage box that could slide out.

I have a heavy, zippered canvas bag that stores things like hilift accessories, shackles, snatch block, and other heavy items I don't want flying around in the even of an accident or rollover. It is secured to one of the rear cargo area rings with a small shackle.

Use a tool roll I got off Amazon for tool storage, it lives under the driver's seat. I use big and small Rolla brand organizers, one in the back for larger items - snatch strap, tire repair kit, zip ties, para cord, climbing rope, other rigging, smaller one in back seat floor for every day things like paper towels, mouth wash, salt/pepper, hand wipes.

I plan to remove the useless sliding cargo tray at some point and replace it with some storage drawers, possibly ARB.

Looks like a big bag that will latch to the back cargo tie downs sounds like my best bet.

Any other suggestions?

I love this. Please get me a picture when you get this.

Did you even try to search? Even a little bit? No? Well here you go. Look at these solutions. There are about 50 more threads out there with even more options.
