Strange Dome / Cabin lighting issue

This is only my 2nd post here and looking forward to being apart of this forum as an active user. I just bought my 2008 Limited 4WD V8 4Runner 2 weeks ago and love every bit of it.

The issue I am having is that when opening the door (any door) the interior dome lights do not turn on. The lights in the door pockets turn on with the doors open but the dome lights do not. I have verified that the lights do work as I can turn them on manually (in the front) by pressing on them so I know at least they have power.

I have checked the Off-on-door settings on the rear seat dome light but that has not worked either. There may be an issue with the rear seat bulb that I will have to check but I would expect the front dome lights to turn on.

What am I missing here? is there a relay, dimmer, timer or fuse I need to look for?

The previous owner may have modified something to not allow the lights to turn on(his preference) as I have noticed he/she was a 'advanced' user so what control this?

if you are talking about the "map" lights, they do not come on when the door opens but u can do the mod for it. Toyota 4Runner Maplight Mod

This is exactly what I needed to know. I wasn't sure but 'assumed' they should or would.

Are there lights the Illuminate the floorboards??

The 2 dome lights over the rear seat and the luggage compartment in the back should come on if the switches are set the right way but not the map lights, like they said above.
If you replace all the interior lamps with LED bulbs that will give you plenty of light. They are pretty cheap, just get a bag of them on ebay.
