Strangest Thing That's Flattened Your Tire?

Well today was a weird one.

Coming up 82nd I heard this loud "WHACK WHACK WHACK WHACK WHACK!!!!!"

I thought WTF!
A million things go through my mind, LBJ, Drive Line, Rear End. So I pulled off the street right at the Foster Shell station and got out and found a pair of pliers stuck in my left rear tire. One of the handles pierced right through the tread and was banging the crap out of the plastic cap on the end of the running board. :wow:

It was so loud that the two attendants at the station came running out to take a look at what was going on.

All three of us stood there in amazement looking at the the pliers stuck in deep. I wiggled them around and knew for sure if I pulled them out, I would only have minutes to get to a tire shop or change the tire.

So asked them where is the closet tire shop was and I kinda knew there was one close because Foster Blvd has all kinds of auto repair, junk yards and the like, up and down the blvd. They both say "two blocks, by Astro gas."

So I yank the pliers out and heard the air gushing out, hop in the 4Runner and take off.

The tire shop at the Asto Gas was closed on Sunday so I drove another three blocks and there was "Premium Tire Service" WOOWHOO!!

By the time I got there the tire was almost flat.
When I showed the worker what put a hole in my tire we both had a good laugh, my laugh was more of an relief laugh. Cost me a total of $13 and a few gray hairs... lol

They are a cheap pair of pliers also...Bas****s anyways!

So is this just plain weird or has any one else had some strange object flatten your tire?

Yeah I know, I need new tires. :(

Once upon a time while driving my dads F350 without him knowing; I was backing down some ruts on a logging road (there was a washout and it was impossible to turn that ship around) and a VERY small, albeit sharp, twig went STRAIGHT through the sidewall of his BFG At's. I ran home (about 5 miles) and got my 1st gen 4runner. Buckled the ruined tired into the front seat and went to the local Les Schwab where they charged me $110 (that my buddy who was better at stealing from his parents spotted me) for a BFG AT of the same size, and nearly the same tread depth (almost new). They mounted and balanced it and off I went. Reinstalled the tire/wheel, washed the truck, and to this day I do not think my father has any idea that ever happened.

Needless to say, I was too scared to drive that beast off-road ever again.

That's crazy man! Looks like you're due for tires anyway....
 
I've seen wire coat hangers but never a pair of pliers. Before I saw the picture I was thinking a pair of angled needle nose pliers could do it...but those??

Back in the day when I drove tractors n crap, I was turning around on an end and the outside tire popped right off its bead. When I got down to investigate what happened to Boss Man's $100K JD, I was surprised to see a 5pt deer antler stabbed in the middle about 6" deep! He didn't believe me till he came and saw it himself. He still has the antler.
 
About 15 years ago, I hurt my back and was off from work. About the only thing I could do to make my back feel better was to drive my Bronco. So I took off on a long drive thru the country.
Somewhere down in Tennessee, I was roundin a curve and all at once, my right rear 32/11.50 BFG All-Terrain went flat. I got out to see WTF happened and there was a 9/16 Craftsman wrench stickin thru the sidewall into the tire, ROUND END IN!
Even with the bad back, I had to change that thing. Still have the wrench.
 
I worked at a texaco station in high school and fixed thousands of tires. Weirdest things i have seen include a house key, a spark plug, and a dime. We have a lot of gravel roads here, so lots of gravel holes as well.

That's common in Iowa. My grandpa walks his fields in the spring before running his tractor through them. Too many antlers in too many tires over the years. :hunter:
