Streaming Audio via Bluetooth...New to Me

So I was driving my wife's '12 Lexus IS250 with Nav today and realized you can stream audio via bluetooth...as soon as I got home I checked and my 2010 Limited w/Nav has the same capability :music:

Was I the only numskull driving around using the AUX jack with my bluetooth capable phone??

You sound like me having bought the $290 Garmin and driving around for several months before realizing it had a voice command function...... Lol

Only just started using BT myself, though I only just got this truck :D But how awesome it it? Get in car, start engine, music starts up right where you last left it off :D Feels like the future or something.

Ok, I know kind of old hat for some people but my previous truck (04 tacoma) had no input at all and even had a tape deck in it!

It would be nice if entune had a google play app or even better, allowed mnirroring of your phone screen but setting up a huge driving playlist and just letting it loop works :)

Don't know about Google play but I have my iPod Nano plugged directly into the usb port in my 14 TE, and it does display my music on the Entune screen. I honestly haven't tried playing music via bluetooth, so I don't know if mine will display the music or not. I know it displays my recent calls list on there when I have the phone connected to bluetooth.

Wait... so I could take my old iPod Shuffle, plug it into the USB port tucked in my glovebox... and it would work?

Why did I not think of this????

I dunno if that one would work. :wow:

On the 2014's it's in the dash and apparently tied to the stereo. At least thats what the destruction manual says.....

I must have spent 2 hours sitting in my driveway playing with the Entune features & placing calls to my wife who was about 25 feet away in the living room...all the while humming the theme to The Jetsons lol.

You guys make me think you used these in your last vehicle:

Mine didn't work properly until I bought a new phone (Nexus 5). It still won't work 100% with my wife's Iphone 5S.

Also, it takes a good 2-3 minutes on startup for the truck to realize there's a smart phone trying to make a bluetooth handshake with it.

This works but the ipod controls via the head-unit are cumbersome which is why i have been using the AUX jack. I joined the 21st century yesterday, with no complaints with the bluetooth connection for audio, its been working great

I am not sure how the Entune head unit works, but with the 2011 Limited I have you can plug in an ipod or drive into the USB port and you get another audio device you can use via bluetooth. I have used an iPhone, Samsun gaiaxy S3 with no issues. You can also setup another 3 phones for a total of 4 to sink with the truck. Right now I have my work iPhone and my wifes iPhone along with my SGS 3 synch with the truck. The SGS 3 will play music and give me phone functions. The 2 iPhones will work as phones but no music streaming.

Right now I have my iPhone setup for phone/audio streaming and my wife's iPhone as only audio streaming. There seems to be a issue with having her phone synced with the phone bluetooth in her Lexus and then trying to sync with my 4runner - It wont recognize her phone but the audio streaming works.

I dont know if anyone has been successful at having their phone synced with 2 different car's bluetooth phone systems??

It should work no problem. I have my phone sync'd to two different vehicles. You must do the initial setup with both vehicles though.

...I have my phone sync'd to two different vehicles. ...

I every time i get in her car or her in my 4runner we have to re-establish the connection, it doesn't automatically connect like it does in our respective cars.

I even tried making the "pass code" the same for each unit but no luck. Its odd how the Audio streaming will work but the phone function wont...

Wow. I have had the 4Runner for one week today and I still messing with the EnTune unit.

My wife and I have synced the phones (iphone for her and Android for me) and they sync every time we turn on the car and bluetooth is active on the phone.

My wife was slightly upset that she had to use her phone to advance the track when streaming via bluetooth. She wanted to use the interface on the Entune system and the steering wheel controls. To solve that problem I had her load up a USB Stick Drive with all of her I-Tunes favorites. She can now use the steering wheel and the touch screen to change to whatever song she likes without having to touch her phone.

Americas High Five - I had problems at first with audio volume and receiving error message about unable to access map and other functions but once I installed the EnTune app all those problems went away for my Samsung Galaxy S3.

Honestly, my wife's phone sounded better playing though bluetooth than mine did but then again I still might not have the bluetooth volume feature on my phone turned up all the way. I will be testing for that issue tonight.

So far I am very pleased. We both came from Honda's without any of this technology and now I don't know how I ever traveled without it.

Still haven't played with the XM feature. I guess I need to read up on that.

Just thought I would share my experience thus far.

More to come!

I haven't read the thread in detail so maybe this is covered but I can change songs with the steering wheel controls hen streaming over bluetooth with my iPhone.

I don't have Entune, I have the basic stereo. It seems strange that this would work with the basic system and not the upgrade Entune setup...I am with your wife, I would be annoyed if I couldn't do that, it's nice to have that option...

Lol. I still have a box of those somewhere at home. I used to brag to people about the Silverado W/T WITH AIR I bought new in 2004 for eleven nahn nahnty. I bragged that it had AM AND FM radio in it because it didn't even have a cassette player. :biggrin2:
