Stretch's 3rd Gen Build Round 2

Yeah...they say imitation is one of the best forms of flattery. You're welcome haha. It was actually flipping through your build that sold me on that wheel/color combo on this paint scheme vs the 5stars.

That's what these forums are all about; I have copied many. :)

Is that a purple laced set of I9's? :thumb:

Nice rig(s)

Thank you.

And yes those are I-9 Trail 24's laced to the new Torch hub. Purple Spoke/Black Hub/Valvestem framed in Blue. They were a parting gift to myself when I realized I was leaving the cycling industry and would no longer receive that wonderful price break. I had actually called to order their old hubs laced to Stans hoops but they asked me if I would mind waiting an extra month for the new Torch/Trail24 combo to be available. Well worth the wait. I have had them since March'ish of 2013 and have yet to have to put them in the truing stand.

Stretch (AM) I'm stalking you on here too. My rig is starting to get jealous because its losing its twin status. I like whats going on here brother..

 Muppet. Haha. the AM just made me laugh out loud in the office once I figured out what you meant. A-hole.

Nothing fun and new yet...just a bunch of routine maintenance going on. I'll have it back from the alignment shop tomorrow. Had an outer tie rod end fail during adjustment, the ball/socket came completely apart without warning. New inners and outers on both sides while I was at it.

Next up:
All accessory belts
PS Flush
Fix threads on one of the front sway bar brackets
Passenger rear axle seal
Tundra Brakes
Both T Case Output seals getting replaced

Not going to keep modding this one too much. Just fix/upgrade if the opportunity presents itself. I've begun collecting parts for my new buggy build.

Tubing prices near me have come down a considerable bit, so I'll be building sliders and a front bumper here soon. I just have to order my winch plate and some miscellaneous tabs and brackets from Barnes4wd. But in prep for this, I will be relocating the turn signals to the corner lights.

Doing it with led's and a rubber grommet vs changing wiring around or having to notch the housing for twist lock sockets.

No real hardcore tech, but just some tinkering.

Got the LED's installed in the corner light for the turn signals. Wicked simple. $14 total. I may go back and install a second set if they aren't bright enough, but its easy to see it blinking during the day so I don't see it being an issue.

Remove the corner light. Cut the wires for the turn signals. Route them up to the corner. Green to Black, White to White. Drill (1) 3/4" Hole. Install the light with the grommet turned around backwards of the way it comes in the package. Reinstall the corner light, done.

It will blink faster than normal because I didnt change out the flasher for one that is made for the impedance of the LED's, but the faster blinking doesn't really bother me.

Lights removed, wire re-routed.

I hope to knock out the new bumper and sliders soon. Planned on buying the tubing and getting to work this weekend, but found a set of FJ80 axles that I must have instead.

Hey man
I think I saw you pulling onto Ellis in Durham this morning. I was in a sunfire red 97 with a grille guard. Unfortunely stock for the time being but your rig definitely inspires me to save up for a lift and some new tires.

Work has kept me busy and traveling a bunch so I still haven't gotten around to building the front bumper and sliders. Maybe I can knock that out before deer season opens and I spend all my free time in the woods.

In the meantime I have installed a Curt trailer hitch since this Runner did not have one. Took all of 30 minutes to install. For those of you without a hitch that want one. Its a great complete kit and the hitch tucks nicely under the bumper. I needed this to be able to use my hitch mount cargo carrier for a few upcoming camping and hunting trips and I can now haul the new dirtbike on a hitch carrier rather than pulling a trailer everywhere.

Doing a little work cleaning out behind the warehouse and making runs to the dump. New hitch already comes in handy.

Been swamped with work the last couple of months and haven't even had time to think about mods or building anything...I did manage to get this done this week after work.

Really though, the lighting in the truck SUCKED. Even after upgrading the headlights, still not HID because a good retrofit kit is stupid expensive, and not having foglights, I always had subpar visibility on back roads at night and going up into the mtns where I hunt.

One of these days I am going to finally get around to building a replica of codyjh 's old tacoma bumper or just ordering an Addicted Offroad piece.

Next up should be Tundra brakes and hopefully finding a complete E-Locker rear to swap in.
