Stripping powdercoated wheels

The wheels are black 8069s. Does anyone have experience with this. Is this something thats DIY friendly? . I was thinking of stripping them and then adding a clear coat. Is this something that an be done without removing the tires

If I'm not mistaken you need to sand blast the powder coat off

Are they factory 8068 painted?

I only ask because most factory wheels are actually anodized paint onto the metal which is different then powder-coating.

Powder-coated wheels would have been done after manufacture by the previous owner.

Either way I'd suggest sand blasting them.

If you don't want to sand blast (Which i also recommend) They sell chemicals online specially designed to get it off. Here's a link to an example.

They sell cheaper stuff, but this stuff would get it off NP.

gloss black pro-comp 8069 wheels. I contacted procomp asking about the type of paint but havent received a reply just yet.
