strobes lights

I guess the question I have, is why?

I cant see the need to add strobes to a vehicle. Adding additional 'warning' lighting systems seems a waste.

Just a thought.... Am I missing something?

id do it in a heartbeat if i had the time, id put white strobes in though, because im a teen and im stupid. I think itd be a lot of fun messing with ppl, you could make people get out of your way on the highway, and streets. I think its a sweet idea just dont prefer the amber.

um, yeah, bad idea. BTW, LEO stands for LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER :)

ya i agree with ksneubec dont put white in, well for one its a federal law, impersanating <--(spelled wrong sorry)a cop. if your lucky you get a fix it ticket, big fine. bad side car impounded, you go to jail and a big fine. ya it would be fun to do it to stupid people on the road that cant drive or friends but to much at risk...i did it more for safety then anything. but they do look cool. =)

im in college, i am very aware of what LEO stands for. we got plenty of them sneaking into our parties. I think instead im going to get some strobes, white and blue, some portable ones and just turn them on and put them on the dash when i want to have some fun, however i would be very responsible about how i used them, i wouldnt exactly turn them on and just fly down the interstate. but it would be fun to play with.

Right. Bad idea.. Just ask the kid who I pulled over for having blue/white-ish LED neon undercar tubes two nights ago. He ended up going to jail for being DUI, but also added the charge for impersonation based upon the lights. The patterns could change colors with a push of the switch.

Why did I stop him in the first place? The lights were flashing. I am the only one who gets to flash lights on the road! :D

You would get arrested in a second for that. Dont be a dumbass.

damn, wait so is it illegal to have the underbody tube lighting? like street glow, as long as its a steady light and not flashing or is that illegal?

ok ok ok yall are right

Well in my Jeep guys case they were flashing some funky pattern. Depends upon the state. In IN, the lights cant be emergency colors, no flashing, and cant be showing light to oncoming motorists. Not sure about other states, but thats prob. the general rule.

I'm pretty sure that strobes is for "off-road" use only. But i know it's legal to have strobes as your alarm radar. Meaning it must be in park and not driven.

say what?

Strobe lights for cars is only for off-road use only. That's what it intends to be legal for..........Another way to have strobe lights legally is if you set it as your alarm radar..........

what's so hard to understand about that?

oh nothing i guess, i just had my alarm for about 2 days before it went haywire and had to remove it so i have no idea what the alarm radar is, im assuming its when your lights flash when you unlock your car

I was wondering if I put strobes into my 4runner that I also use as my commercial vehicle would that be legal?

I mainly want to use the strobes in situations where I need to reverse into my loading area from the high traffic street fronting the building.

Also since I make many stops and park on the side of main streets in the city to pickup document.

My co-worker has strobes on his suv and as of yet has no legal probelms.

Technically, it probably IS illegal, but I doubt that you would ever get hassled . . . .

well me being a dumass leaded me to install strobes in the headlights, a blue and white in the grille and a blue and white in the dash. i got bored one day :awais: i have a buddy whose got a caprice and hes got the same thing, so the other day me and him parked in front of a friends house and turned our lights on and roped the house off with crime scene tape and threw down some chalk outlines. cause quite a stir with some nosey neighbors(all college kids). Note to all: i am smarter than to use these on the roads, however im also aware that it is legal to use them while parked or on private property. anyways heres a pic, ill take some more in the light. also the headlights arent on its just the strobes flashing all at once

I was asking because I've seen some stobe kits that run the the $100 price range and more. I'm wondering where he got his kit from, and are they comparable in quality with the police kits?
