Stuck in 4wd

You seem to be very focused on having your Transfer Case do something in Neutral.

I'm not saying that you don't have a problem with your 4WD system, but I am not so quick to rule out user error, especially since you have not owned your 4Runner for that long and have never made use of the 4WD system.

Your Transfer Case (4WD lever) should always be in 4HI for day to day driving (even in 2WD). You simply switch between 4WD (multi-Mode) and 2WD with the button on the T-Case Lever. You can do this on the fly at speeds up to 50MPH if I'm not mistaken.

If your t-case is in Neutral, your truck won't and can't move under its own power, no matter what gear is selected on the transmission. Your 4WD light will (and should) blink in the dash.

Do you have a Center Diff Lock button as well?

I do have the center diff lock button as well. Replaced the rear end a few weeks back (the stump), but sadly couldn't find and e-locker.

Hello everyone today is my first day!! I have read tons of threads on here since purchasing my 2000 4runner limited. I purchased it with the flashing 4x4 light. I have checked everything and all voltages check out to 4x4 ecu except the transfer lock switch. I have jumped the actuator back and forth and it moves good. From what I understand about the multimode is that when off the transfer case should be manually shifted into 2wd when the button is pressed it activates the center diff. I can tell because when I try to spin fron driveshaft by hand you can see front and rear move equally, when shifted by jumping you can tell they are not moving exactly the same. My issue is when the actuator is shifted into the position it would be in with multimode off the front driveshaft is locked with the rear. The front add is open and I can close by swapping the vac lines. I was thinking that the linkage may be incorrect. From what I have read the front shaft should spin by hand when shifted into 2wd and multimode off. Also when transfercase is in neutral engine running and tranny in neutral I still cannot spin the front driveshaft. Sorry for the long post, trued to do all I could with what is currently posted. Any ideas?
