Stuck in the snow!!! *Pics*

Totally got stuck on Lynx pass near Steamboat Springs during the snow storm this week. I was solo and very far from any cell phone service. Damn navigation took me on the "short route" to where I was headed. I guess I should have unchecked the "allow seasonally closed roads" option before I trucked.

Totally bottomed out...

After about an hour and a half of sh!ting my pants because I was in the middle of nowhere, I managed to flag down this dark figure who prevented me from being the subject of a survival movie. That skid that covers my oil pan is now demolished! Anyone know the part number of that bad boy lol?

I think I grabbed the "V8" from the GX470, and the "iForce" from the Tundra. Wasn't crazy about the HUGE slanty V8 part of the Tundra emblem so I did a little mix and match. Actually got the idea from a previous thread here.

As far as survival, ordered some D-ring shackles, 20k recovery strap, protein bars, and will look into a winch at some point. That snow was ~ 2ft of fresh, and ~ 1.5ft base, unplowed obviously. Every time I talk to the locals about going over the pass they look at me like I'm nuts!

Well b4 I started snapping pics, I hulk ripped out that yellow/black road marker in the 3rd pic and tried to shovel out the snow for about 20 minutes...no luck. Then, I shat my pants and may have cried a little (not really), then grabbed some flashlights and started walking. I started walking south towards highway 134 which was ~ 5 miles south which is deserted anyway. I made it ~ 1 mile and in the complete silence, I heard a rumbling from the direction where I got stuck. I ran back as fast as I could and strobed the tractor guy when I saw him. Sooo lucky that dude was out there. I tried to slip him a $20 for yankin me out real quick but he refused. Snow was great on the slope though lol!

Oh ya, gotta get a shovel too!

Glad everything worked out OK. Sounds like you had a close call! And yes, always pre-plan when driving in the CO mountains. Some nav units will tell you Ophir pass is the best way between Silverton and Telluride but in the winter, it ain't

Check out Bud Build skids as well. If you've already trashed the factory skid, I wouldn't waste the money on another one unless you don't usually offroad and and you find one at a salvage yard. I think this is a much better option....
