If you replace the IAC and the issue doesn't resolve immediately, then consider other problems.
Yes, I know this is old, but I just dealt with this.
My IAC replacement made the high idle go down immediately. Cleaning it earlier did help temporarily.
Things to also consider replacing if the IAC replacement does not work include:
- Thermostat
- Coolant Temperature Sensor
- Throttle adjustment
- Throttle Position Sensor
These all cost money, sometimes absurd amounts. So try one at a time.
