thats more confusing to me, cause i wouldnt know if they are moving or stopped? that seems more un-safe then safe.

about a month ago i was heading down I-5 heading to moms house. i am in the 2nd lane over nearing the west Seattle bridge exit. now i am driving in a 93 VW Passat i had just gotten out of the shop. new steel braided brake mines and various other goodies. so i had this dip*$&^ in a brand new GTI come up behind me doing 80+ (speed limit is 60), pass me on the left, just to cut me off and take the W. Seattle bridge exit on the right. a lane OVER from where i am. and in this time, while in front of me, went from 80 to 20. all i have to say is THANK GOD for the new lines and working ABS. but then i almost got rear ended by a Tacoma that was on my a&^.
some people just need to stop driving. even though i cant afford it, i would so back a drivers licensing program like they have in Germany. a friend of mine is stationed there and she was saying tis a $2000 application\class fee and like 2 months of training. plus its a "drive right" country. you drive in the right lane PERIOD, unless passing.

This is the only one that I want to comment on. Everything else I'm with you 100%
This scenario can work two ways.
Firstly, just as you describe, some turd plodding along in the left lane for no reason, showing no real understanding of the world around them, these are the ones that I want to launch an anti-tank weapon at.
Secondly, you get the douch driver who thinks that because they are in the left lane doing mach 2 that the rest of the world should get the hell out of the way, regardless of whats going on around them. These pricks are the ones I want to sideswipe as they pass me. If I am overtaking a slower vehicle but I'm still not going as fast as you want me to, then TOO BAD! I'm in front and you have to wait because that's the way it is. Or if I need to be in the left lane because I'm making a left turn soon, then TOO BAD. Deal with it. The guy in front always has the right of way before the guy behind.
You drive at whatever speed you want to, I'll do the same. That's fair.

Also, the flashers in the rain is catching on here. I've got a problem with that: if you slow down MOVE OVER!

Ahhh crap, i am getting old!! I use flashers in heavy rain!! 
I thought that it is a good idea...being that the taillights are generally not very bright to really allow people to see your car from behind. But, yeah, i do move over to the right if i am not going as fast as the on-coming traffic...and being in the G, this is quite often! 
I do like the European way of driving...if you're coming from behind in the fast lane and see a car slower than you upfront, you just click the left turn signal and flash them quickly. In Europe, this tells the front driver to move over and let you pass. When i was in France, i saw this all the time...and people did not take offense to being flashed.

1. Using flashers when driving in rain is a BAD IDEA 99 percent of the time. First, when I come up behind you, it is hard to tell if you are on the road or off. Second, are you moving or sitting still?
In VA (and several other states), it is generally illegal to use your four-way flashers when moving on the highway; although I do it in the semi most any time I am going up a long steep hill (i.e., Afton Mountain, etc.) and my velocity drops to more than 20 mph below the posted limit. People will come up on my back door very quickly - and they need to be warned by the easiest way I know of that gets their attention. (If I could use flashing strobes or flaming arrows, I definitely would!)

Oh, when I do this, I am obviously IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE. I still just don't know why "keeping right" is such an impossible concept to grasp for so many people. Perhaps it would not be so if our gendarmes would enforce the laws already on the books.
2. As for the guy who "hates trucks" on the road, I feel for you; but everyone who hates my truck in front of them is always in a heck of a hurry to get the stuff that is ON my truck. LOL!

3. You are correct regarding European (or at least German) drivers. They are head-and-shoulders above the dolts here in the USA. Turn signal usage is nearly 100 percent and "left lane bandits" are virtually nonexistent. The biggest complaint about German drivers, though, is that they drive VERY FAST in extremely thick fog. Now that is scary if you are not accustomed to it. {By the way, how do you really become accustomed to that type of driving anyhow?}

4. It can hardly be said enough, but always keep to the right unless you are overtaking another vehicle. If someone is tailgating you, why not move over and let them go by? Eventually, the highway patrol will be there with a radar unit. When they get a ticket, the road becomes safer for you.
