Stupid Running Board Question

I have an 18 SR5 premium. Will Trail Edition running boards fit without issue?

I liked the looks of them the most and ordered them through my dealer and the parts department guy couldn't confirm fitment but just stated if i tried to install them and they didn't fit he wouldn't be able to take them back. From everything i saw online they are perfectly compatible but the dealer has me second guessing myself.

I figured these would bolt right up and be an easy install...Has anybody done this before? And is any additional hardware needed?

I think you should be in the clear. I believe the SR5 had different rocker trim than the Trail from '10-'13 but '14+ SR5/Trail/TRDOR have the same rocker trim. Hopefully somebody else has done this and can confirm.

Try finding someone selling them. I bet a bunch remove them to install sliders and sell them on Craigslist or Facebook.

Thanks. It's just odd that the parts department wouldn't confirm compatibility. The website confirmed it... my only thought is they were hoping i'd pay for them to install.

I put Trail running boards on my '18 TRD Off Road without any issues. Part number PT93889100.

I'm not certain if the TRD Off Road has different rocker trim compared to the SR5.

14+ TRAILS AND SR5S have the same rocker trim so you will be fine

FYI - I am not 100% sure which boards you’re talking about but I had some trouble with what my dealer called Toyota Trail Edition running boards (plastic patterned top) fitting my 2017 SR5. I stopped the install and called my dealer because the brackets, as installed, placed the boards too far to the front so they contacted the wheel/fender/splash guard trim. Just barely but there was contact. I worried about rubbing while driving. I called the dealer and they said they would refund me if I couldn’t make it work. I was able to get the brackets to adjust a little bit but not enough for my comfort so I returned them. I loved the look but they didn’t fit. My suggestion is to dry fit the boards first so you still have the option to return them. Sounds like your dealer is not as forgiving as mine.

As already said, yes. I put my 2017 TRD Off Road steps on the girlfriends 2014 SR5. I did come across a weird situation though which is why I’m sharing. When I took them off of mine after purchasing, I tossed them aside and paid no further attention. As I’m laying under hers to do the instal, they wouldn’t like up. I couldn’t figure out why the “L wasn’t working on the drivers side and the “R” wasn’t aligning on the passenger side......then it hit me to swap sides; success. Apparently on my 2017, they hung the brackets and then the top plates/actual steps were installed onto the already mounted brackets. Well somebody wasn’t paying attention and reversed the top plates; hence the R was aligned for drivers side and vise versa. Guess that explains why the wrong side blinkers are flashing when I turn? (joke)

Not a big deal, but just something to be mindful of to eliminate some late night WTF moments.

I installed the Trail Edition running boards, part #PT93889100, on my 2019 SR5 Premium and they fit perfectly. No issues with rubbing on the mud flaps ... you may have to adjust the brackets some, but this is a very easy fix.

This is the set i picked up yesterday, same part number. It came with the bolts so it looks like I have everything. Hope to get them on sometime in the next few days. Thanks!

you will be fine all the running boards have the same attach point to the body the only one is different is the limited due to its bottom seal or skirt good luck
