windshield
When I bought my used 4Runner, the replacement windshield the previous owner installed leaked water, so I had it replaced for $242. Just last week I intercepted a rock in front of the steering wheel, but just below the top of the dash (luckily) and so I had the chip fixed IMMEDIATELY.
If you get a chip,,, find the nearest guy that will repair it. The first time your wipers are used, it will fill the chip with dirt and it'll never look good again. You can barely see my repair and I'll never have to worry about it cracking in the future.
Here in the Houston area there are guys sitting in parking lots with chip repair kits just waiting on you. Funny how they seem thicker around construction zones!
