Stutters up hills at 60 mph or so...

It started a few weeks ago. It stutters and jumps a few times as you up a hill as long as you are giving it gas. When you let the rpm's come down it stops.

The CEL came on and it me trouble code P0120,

Please let me know what you think it could be.

I'm not sure if it's knocking, just read what that is... But it has been years since they've been changed. You may have something there.

Change your plugs and wires. mine did this when I first got it, and I thought it was the trans slipping. Turns out the plugs were NEVER changed in the 130xxx before I got the truck.

P0120 is in fact a throttle position sensor code and the sensor when failing commonly results in the symptoms you are experiencing. I'm currently on my phone but can post diagnostic procedures for it later if you want. The cutting out is often a result of the sensor signal dropping out in certain throttle positions.

Change your Throttle Position Sensor. Had the same issue when I owned my '97. It would come and go intermittently. The worst time was when I was pulling a boat up a steep grade... I thought I was going to have to stop and put it in 4LO.

It's also worth looking at your trans fluid and ensure you don't have the pink milk shake. That will also cause your issue.

x2...I had the EXACT same problem as you, once I changed the plugs and wires it has not happened again, and this was 2 years ago. Good luck.

I had similar symptoms but mine turned out to be the MAF. If the TBS doesn't fix it, I'd try that next.

Here's another vote for plugs and wires. I had a similar issue and changing the plugs and wires solved it. Solved it until one of the coils went bad a couple of weeks later and the "stuttering" problem was 10x worse (yes, I know coils are supposed to outlast the chasis).
