subwoofer and amp with stock deck??

I am new to wiring and i couldnt find much on this forum so far.. i know the bazooka tubes (with built in amp) always advertise they work on most stock decks.. what is the difference between that and a sub in a box with an amp bolted on.. also is this possible, i love the look of my stock deck (99 limited) but want a bit more bass, thanks!

have to find the signal wire for the amp, having an aftermarket deck is better because they have a bass feature, for sub and door speakers, and a subwoofer feature for just the sub. and general idea is to not mount the amp on the box because it will shake it apart.

These stock decks CAN last a long time (My 1998 is still going strong) but if I was going to rip it out to fiddle with the wiring, I wouldn't put it back in. Search the forums, a year ago I did find a link someone posted to an aftermarket deck that looked just like our stock decks! It was real nice and didn't cost too much.

After 12 years with my stock deck, I replaced it with a $200 Sony unit. My stocker was having issues. I can't believe the difference in sound, the Sony sounds great compared to the stocker (nothing else was changed including the speakers). Dump the stock deck and enjoy.

I just replaced the OEM radio with a $50 sony from walmart and yes, still an unbeleivable change.

Yeah, pretty much any aftermarket deck is going to be a significant improvement over the stock deck.

No use amplifying a dirty signal.

I did it, just removed the B-piller and tapped into the speaker wires going to the rears. Just have to get the polarity right. I am going to get new deck soon with the sub out RCA's so that only the bass signals get sent to the amp but this works for now, actually sound pretty good.
