Subwoofer box ideas

I am in the club that says, Why in the world do you want two 15" subs. That is a total waste of space. Get a high quality 10" or 12" that will give you more boom and better sound quality. They you don't have to worry about space.

I hate to be a bubble burster too, but I use to have 2 Alpine type R 12's in a box similar to what you have sketched up, and have since sold them. The box is just too large and sacrifices too much cargo space. I've now fiber glassed the wheel well and am in the process of making a hybrid glass-mdf box that will take as little room as possible with a single JL 10-w6, at about 5-600 watts rms

Thats not too bad, i have 2 rf 15s p3 in ported box, i still got some cargo space, but i wanted to be loud, i still think i want it louder, my focals are loud and clear, maybe i should of did 2 13 w7 on a rf t2500.

I see what you mean about the stock head unit but i dont see the underpowering as an issue. The setup I had before was two A/D/S SB7's which were 7.5" and they sounded great, they were rated for 150w rms but I only ran 50w rms into them each. SO i figure if i use the same high quality amp I have and bridge two channels to 100watts rms then i will have a nice clean sound, keeping in mind that I know they will clip if i turn it up to much. Also the sensitivity of my previous subs were about the same if not less. So I think it would be fine with an aftermarket unit and the 15's or something similair. Another reason I'm going with the 15's is because its frequency response. These subs go down to 27hz, and I know smaller speakers can, like my previous 7.5" subs could, but I always like them bigger in that field because to me you get a cleaner sound out of a larger speaker when its below 30ish hz. Also I am a member of DIYMA and have looked there also

there are 8s that can easily get low freq, even better than the sub you are looking at. look into some sundown sa8 subs.they are not that pricey, they are a quality sub with great spl and low freq response, and they dont require alot of enclosure volume.

this is an example of properly doin a aftermarket sub in the existing sub location, using the existing enclosure is not the best idea. custom enclosure ported is the way to go, although i personally would have chose a different sub, but still a good setup.

See the attachment for what I ended up with, went with the 12" eminators and a prefab box, it fits pretty well and I've cleaned up the wires a little since that pciture.

it would look cleaner if all the wiring was on the other side to hide the wiring and have a cleaner look.

this is the way to go minus the overpriced over rated jl sub, way better stuff out there for way cheaper.

Ha, i would normally agree, except that I got the sub for 200
