Subwoofer Power Help

Okay, after researching and googling I still do not understand ohms or any of the car audio terms.

Heres the subwoofer I am working with:RE Audio REX10D4

Its Thermal Power Handling is 175W.
Its a dual voice 4 ohm subwoofer.

My Questions:
  • Is 175W the peak wattage or the rms wattage?
  • If I want to run this subwoofer at 4 ohms, and to peak performance what wattage amplifier will I need?

Any and all advice or answers would be much appreciated!

Thanks, DirtDawg

your going to need to wire the subs to a 2 ohm load, then find an amp that produce 200w rms on 2ohm load, itll be fine with a little extra power, just not too much if you dont know what it can do.
