finally after trying to figure out my problem and resorting to manually applying vacuum i figured out the the po of my truck is a complete dumb a$$ he switched the vacuum lines that run from the vsv to the front diff which is why my 4x wasnt working all it took was switching the lines back to were they go and bam four wheel drive works. :girl:

but here is my question i still am not getting a light on the dash any one know what this could be

if the 4wd works then the light being on doesnt really matter...
could be a fuse, blown bulb, or something in the wiring?

Well here is a schematic

You said the 4wd works, meaning the actuator works, so that means the fuse is good.

Could be the bulb (most likely)
ADD (auto diff disconnect) indicator switch
Transfer indicator/position switch
Transfer pressure switch (V6 w/auto)
Bad wiring

ok the add indicator switch is that the same thing as the transfer case switch? im going to tear the dash apart the next day i have off and check the bulb. another quick question when you first cut the key on is the light on the dash supposed to cut on like the rest of them and then go back off? because my light doesn't come on at all

Look here for a location layout.

By the way I pulled this out of the service manual at the top of this very forum.
