Went in yesterday for 30K service. Asked my slsmn if he had any TE's (100% certain it would be "no").
"Yes"
"What color?
"Silver" (the only color I'd want). /Mentally balancing my checkbook/
"Options?"
"KDSS, and NAV"
"Oh Sh!t"
"Hang on, I'll get the keys" .... 3 minutes later .... "Oh man, sorry, we just traded it to another dealer".

It would take some sort of engine/drivetrain update or option, hell even a throttle mapping update to compel me to trade up for any new runner (although you would think an updated throttle mapping could be flashed on any existing models).
And not offering BP on the trail is such a huge facepalm on Toyota's part...just imo lol.

I own a 2013, but placing myself in your shoes I couldn't justify the upgrade until either a significant refrsh and/or powertrain changes. Based on how long these things run, and how similar the new one would be I just couldn't do it.
While I have grown more used to the V6 since purchase, it would be nice to even see a sport/eco button that would adjust the transmission and get rid of the lag built in for gas mileage.
I drove my Grand Cherokee to work today as it may have a buyer tonight, and while the HEMI is more than I need.... it just pulls and pulls, slight throttle, mid throttle. More power is always nice!

If they drop the 5.7 in.... I think Toyota would run out of them in no time at all. Thats pretty much what all the guys and i are waiting for at work.

I wouldn't hold your breath on the 5.7 making it's way into the 4Runner, especially with tighter mpg regulations coming up.

That's one aspect but I also think it would cannibalize sales from other Toyota lines where the 5.7 is offered which they may have also considered.
A 5.7 4Runner would drain off some prospective Tundra/Sequoia/Lexus customers who would take the engine in a mid sized lower cost package as well as draw in new customers who might have gone Chrysler for V8 power and/or don't like the current V6 offering.

Thanks for clarifying this. I thought BP stood for better power since it was also talking about a V8.
