My Experience so far (A bit winded)
Well, I called around to three dealerships in the Maryland Area (Antwerpen Toyota, Russell Toyota, and Laurel Carmax) The service reps on the first two were a bit arrogant on the phone and I am a bit sensitive to that kind of S**t. So I called Carmax, and a Nick Bailey (service Rep) handled my call, really nice guy.
But any way; I asked him direct questions such as " have you guys ever handled this type of complaint?" I also told him of the bat not to give me that hog wash about the direct problem being the Gas I use and to try others because I have already done this in a consious manner and the problem persists.
Any way, he said bring it in, he took down my VIN and set an appointment for 7:15am 04/13/06, we'll have our tech look at it and determine the problem.
So I went, a different servie rep took me in cause he was with another customer. The lady Serv Rep read his notes and wondered if this was coming out pocket, I showed her the printout of the TSB and she read it like as if she was signing her life away (Down to the last detail).
So I waited for the truck, Nick at this point came over and told me that they could possibly have it done that same day, so i said "cool", but first he had to check with the Tech. After checking with the Tech, they did not have the parts in, so he scheduled me for Next wednesday 04/19/06.
When I was at the service reps counter signing the paperwork, the tech was there to hand the keys to nick, So I asked him if he had done anything to the computer, and he said he flashed/reprogramed the ECU, I said cool, but then he said, You know... your VSC TRACK light is on, i noticed this as i drove your truck around. I thought he said it came on and whent, so i told him, yes this will happen if you take a sharp turn and gunn it. But he said no, it is on and is still on. I told him it was not on when I brought it in, perhaps his reporgraming of the ECU or what ever he did had something to do with this. He said most likely not since this deals directly with the emmisions part and not the driving part. I asked him if this was going to affect my drive home in a ny way, or if it was going to make the truck send me home in LIMP MODE, he said no. Well, I told him and I ws very addemant about it, the Light was not on initially, whom ever drove it to the back could attest for this since the warning light is bright as hell.
We'll they told me that it could of been something that happened a while back and that just now the system decided to alert me. I don't think so. So they are going to look at it on Wednesday and run some type of diagnostic and determine what it is.
So needless to say currently I am a bit unpleased.
