Summer College Semester

I'm in my second semester of college, and most of the way through the full summer semester.

Currently drowning in Biology at 4 hours a day, and trying to finish a 750-1000 word essay for English 1020 tomorrow (literature).

Anyone else in here currently attending some form of higher-level education?

Yes finished in 2014 and went right back for more, the first two years where the most painful. I hated silly literature and all those uninteresting weed out classes. what's your major?

I wish I could tell you it gets better in the working world...but it doesn't.
 
Graduated last year with a BS in Mechanical engineering. Currently working, but just applied to graduate school for my masters.

I have two kids in college as of this August. I used to take summer classes when I was in college with the objective of graduating in three years. Then I started having fun... It took longer.
 
I loved summer classes. I probably put in over 40 hours in summer classrooms during my undergraduate matriculation. Professors were a little less stringent with work and rarely stayed the full class period. Received all A's I believe.

I've got one who regularly wears jeans and tshirts (Slayer, Atanta Braves, etc...History1), and my English 1020 (english comp) gets all excited and starts jumping around, sitting on windowsills, etc... he wears jeans, tshirts, and sandals every day. Definitely keeps you awake during class!!!:pop2:

I am attending full time (year round basically with the exception of the 5week "wintermester") with the goal of graduating in 3 years.

I'm also hired as a student worker for the Environmental Education Center (farm crew). So i get to deal with cows, fix fence, mow, bush-hog, etc...in essence be a farm girl again!

I'm doing the same thing right now, going full time all year round. I took only online classes for the summer so I could juggle that and avoid childcare for our daughter. This summer for me has been English and Calculus. These were my first online classes with this university and I loved them. I found not having to sit in class was awesome and have actually signed up for 2 online classes to go with my 3 in the classroom for the fall. I would recommend looking into that if you can get the class you want. I think with the English and Math at least the format works really well.

I'm also employed as a student worker but tutoring other students. I heard the same thing about summer semesters though in regards to how long the classes can be. Checkout online through your school and mixing it up may help, they use the same professors too.

Because I'm using my VA Benefits, some of my school HAS to be Brick-and Mortar. I find I learn better in class than online. Its more interactive for me, and I can ask questions, and get the communication feedback I need. Honestly, the hardest part for me, is dealing with 18 and 19 year old's in some of the classes. Their attitudes want to make me smack them upside the head with something large and heavy (cast iron skillet anyone??)

Our class sizes here at APSU tend to be very small. 45 students at most. The classes towards my Major (agricultural science) have fewer (teens). For the summer semester my average class size is 13.

I'm lucky, I just have "furry" kids....an almost 7 year old German Shepherd and a 6 month old Aussie.

I dont think the fish and the gecko really count as "pets".

This!!! For those of you in undergrad, I highly recommend taking summer classes. Yes, being in the classroom when the days are long and the weather is nice is horrible, but usually the classes are much shorter and the professors are extremely laid back. I was able to knock out about 6 months worth of classes in 2, so it was definitely worth the sacrifice.

I graduated last summer from PSU with a BS in Information Systems, and am now about halfway through my MBA program at Western Governors University.

Btw, If anyone is looking for a legitimate, cheap way to get a grad degree at an accredited, nonprofit school, I highly recommend WGU. I'm essentially doing it to check the resume box, but it has been a great program thus far. It's a very different approach to traditional universities where you have to have so many credit hours to graduate (i.e. time in seat), and it's a fraction of the cost. I'm really hoping places like this take off to disrupt the ridiculous cost of tuition so more people can access higher education.

This is why I'm taking the summer semester. I'm knocking out all of my undergrad "core" classes (english, history, art, Biology 1010/11 (lab). Any classes towards my major are not offered til fall and spring semester. So I'll use my fall and spring semesters wisely.
 
Entering my senior year. Would've loved to take summer classes but not into paying $4000 for it. My advisor is dickish too so they don't want to accept credits from a community college ($500 by comparison). I'm taking Bio 2 and Chem 1 next semester. Wish me luck.

yea, I think my full summer semester was 3800 or 4k. I'm also taking 12 credit hours. I think fall semester is 14 hours, due to two classes having Lab's associated with them.

Plant Science (with lab)

Soil Science (with lab)

economic entemology

Animal Feeding practices

Haha, that's a steal. I should clarify: $4000 for a 3 credit class.
 
One more week of summer semester. 2 more tests for Biology (transcription/translation, molecular biology) and evolution next week

I have to edit one essay for English (first draft is already turned in), and complete my Final for History 2010 (settlement to the civil war).

I'm ready for a break before fall semester starts the end of the month. My brain is about fried.
