Sun roof problems...

The damnest thing keeps happening with my sun roof... on occasion, i hit the button to open the sunroof and instead of the automatic function working... where it would open by itself after holding it down for a sec or two, i have to hold down the button to get it to open or close back up...... anybody heard of this happening?

before i go to the dealership , i figured i'd better ask the experts here... i HATE bringing my truck to a dealership.... some F*#STICK doesn't watch out for scratching your car or something...

Reset the auto function. Press and hold the "Tilt Up" button and wait until it tilts up and within a second, it'll "adjust" itself, then release the button. It's also in your owner's manual.

Dude, thanks a bunch man.... for a second , i thought something was broken... i did it and it works again... do you happen to know what causes it to stop working? just curious... ya know, like off roading and bouncing around alot... or something..

No problem, glad it worked for you.

I have no idea why it does that, it only happens to me when I leave it tilted for a long time. A lot of people seem to get it too.

If you disconnect the power supply, it's supposed to require the reset procedure. If you've not disconnected the power, then maybe you have something wrong inside??

Has happened to me too

Learned about the reset here on this board also. It has only happened a few times to me, but it seems that if I release the tilt feature too soon, that's when it can lose it's home position. I need to then go through the reset steps as described in the manual. It's odd, but it does work.

Mine did that, at first it was occasional, and then it just became all the time. It would not auto back or up. I called a dealer and they said they wanted to see it so I brought it in. They took it in to the shop for about 15 minutes, to look at this and other things. They brought the car back out and said it was fine. The sunroof worked perfectly. I checked it and was stunned, sure enough it did. They never told me I could do it myself, they just said it worked fine when they tested it.

This is KIND OF related.... my "auto" light on the driver window control keeps flashing... it won't do auto up/down either. Any ideas?

Try reinitializing it.

1. With ignition on, push and hold window switch to open window.

2. Hold switch up to close window.

3. Continue holding switch for another couple of seconds until it stops blinking.

4. Check for proper operation.

Documented in TSB PG018-02.

Thanks. works fine now. It was because I just had the window tinted so they must have done something to it.
