Sunroof Auto feature stopped working

I'm SO sorry I bought my Toyota from Stephens Toyota of Bristol CT.

I had the auto-open/close feature stop working today. Power was NOT disconnected, I came out from work and it wouldn't open or close automatically. I tried going straight to the dealership but the "service" department is closed at 3:30PM!! Every day of the week!! Warranty repair should not be a monetary burden on my part!

SO I came home pi$$ed, but thought "Better check 4runner.org". SURE ENOUGH, the same problem has been experienced by other owners, AND the fix worked. Went into the garage , held the sunroof button to "tilt" , allowed it to fully stop, then held it till it was fully slid open and back. It worked fine after that.

Really hate the dealership service dept. The service "advisor" that was behind the counter, whom I have had the misfortune of having to arrange warranty service with before, is incompetant. She will not schedule warranty work unless a technician actually sees the problem. example- my stereo headunit abruptly stops having sound. You have to arrange a service appointment, THEN they can get parts AFTER verifying the problem, or arrange to have it fixed at a later date.

Anyone in CT know a dealership with a service dept. open later than 4pm?

I must say that service department sucks if they only stay open until 3:30. I'm lucky, my dealers service department stays open until 9 pm and that is not just for pick ups and they are also open on the weekends, same goes for the parts department.

3 p.m. that sucks. I was complaining that my service dept. is only open till 7 p.m., guess its not that bad. I've learned to stay away from the stealer for things like that. Unless its something crucial or life threatning (sic) I try to fix it myself.

Yep. I dislike them a lot.

Still fuming about the service hours, although fixing it myself was good. I had to lose time from work recently to get them to replace the radio head unit. When it's for warranty work, it burns me.
I am trying to see if theres another dealer within 15 miles with better hours or Saturdays. If I find something, I'm contacting the Stephens service dept and telling them goodbye, no more regular maintenance for them HA!!.

First off, your service department sucks if they close at 3:30. I was angry when I was told that the service department closed at 4:30 PM.

I am one of the ones who experienced this problem. I am not sure if it was a coincedence, but it happened right after I had the homelink installed. My mom picked it up for me and I went out to see what it looked like. By accident, I hit the sunroof button, and realized that it was not opening or closing automatically. I kept on messing with it but nothing changed. I ran into my house to call the dealer and I screamed. It was too late to bring it in, so I ran back out. I put the key in, pushed the button, and SURPRISE. It worked. The only thing that I did was let it sit for 15 minutes while I screamed at the dealer!

the runner hearing you scream from the house probably got scared thinking you might take it back to the dealer again and fixed itself :)
