Sunroof Motor Running On It's Own

Guys,

a couple of nights ago I was driving on the freeway with my sunroof open and when I went around a bend at speed I thought I heard the sunroof motor going for just a second. (Like the sunroof was closing) I looked up and it wasn't moving so I thought I was losing it.

I picked up my girlfriend at the airport and on the return trip I went around another bend and it happened again and this time she heard it too.

Any ideas what this could be?

BTW it's a two month old '08 SR5 with 1,700 miles on it. Maybe I'll take it into the dealer. I'd sure hate for the sunroof to get stuck open or something. I'd also hate for the dealer to tear out my headliner for no reason.

How fast were you going? If around 55 mph then it was just the wind deflector moving.

Dude, mine did the EXACT same thing. At night, on freeway, slowwing and getting on an on ramp I heard it for a sec. I was like WTF? Then it did it later on when on freeway that night. Sunroof was slid open and back window open. I was thinking it was some traction control noise or something or that it was in relation to taking cruise off because it did it shortly after that. Has not done it since then. No clue. Didn t close or anything just made a noise like it was for a split second

As jharris2 said, it's just the wind deflector moving. It automatically moves at set speeds to reduce noise. Around 55 it moves up or down (down I think, but I can't remember), and then when you slow down to around 45 I believe, it moves to the original position. The sunroof has to be fully open for this to automatically operate.

Freaked me out the first couple times it happened in mine, but I figured out it was the sunroof, then researched it a bit. I think I found it on this website, or found it in my owner's manual.
