Sunroof won't open

Ive searched for a few things, and I can't find exactly what I need. I have a 96 SR5. My sun roof motor works. When I press the slide button, it turns but if I press the tilt button, nothing happens. Does anyone know a solution?

Make sure it's slid all the way forward (closed) or it won't tilt.

But you prob did this already. Might be your switch but I've never heard of them messing up.

It's shut completely. I figured the switch may be bad. I just wanted to see if I could find someone who has fixed this problem already. Thanks for the input

A couple years back mine got stuck in the half open position and after a few days of a trash bag taped to the roof, I found that something had got stuck on the rail and caused it to jam.

I suggest watching the sides carefully and see if it looks like it's getting hung up. If it sounds like it's trying to move and cant its probably jammed.

The motor works, but I think my switch is messed up. Tilt doesn't do anything at all. Slide works but it can't really slide open because i can't tilt it up

I'm pretty sure the sunroof motor just runs off of 12 volt power. You can probably just pull down the panel where the switches are and short out the wires to complete the circuit. This would eliminate the switch as the source of the problem. I'm pretty sure the motor on mine is shot, as it moves reaaaaaally slowly and I have to help it along.

Me and my dad were killing time the other day and we got an itch to check it out. I can see my motor spin to slide it closed or open, but once it swaps from "reverse" to "forward", it just sits there. Were gonna look more into bypassing that switch to see if it works properly and if it does, then I'll pick up the 2 buttons at a junk yard
