Super Long "Chirping" Blower Motor Thread on Tacomaworld.com

I have a chirping noise on my 2 lowest settings for my HVAC.

I started digging about this problem and I uncovered a 60 page thread that goes back to 2/09 about this on tacomaworld.com.

Supposedly, after a quick skim of 20 or so pages of the thread, there is a new (non GM/Delphi) motor being spec'd for the Tacos #87103-04043 since 2012 or so.

Is this new motor going to work?

Have any of you all had this issue with your blower motors in our 4runners? (they have to be the same)

Has anyone had the new motor #87103-04043 ($108 on Ebay) long term (longer than a year)?

Has anyone else been successful with either the amazon aftermarket blower motor ($100 or so) or the aftermarket cheap one at auto parts stores ($40)? The consensus is they all start chirping (or are loud initally) in a year or less. Supposedly the new -04043 ones are lasting. Before I put down my $$$$ I would love some input.

Also, some report adjusting the 2 screws on the bottom of the motor with differing levels of success. Some say it works long term, others that the chirp comes back in days to months.

Before I get in trouble, I googled on our site, and found very little; most of it is old.

Mine chirped intermittently, but was replaced under warranty a couple years ago, and no problem since. Dealer service dept said they had seen a few Tacomas with this problem, but no 4Runners.

That was the only thing that ever broke on my 4Runner - only visit to dealer for any warranty issue.

I bought the cheap one at Autozone. It makes a lot of blower noise but it is much better than the chirp which will drive you insane.

I fixed the noise with a generous application of foil backed, 1/4 inch thick, 2 inch wide, adhesive foam rubber insulation from big box store.

I don't know if the replacement part is the same. The Tacomas were produced at the NUMI plant for a long time (co-run by GM) and so I can see why they have a Delphi part. But the 4Runners were built in Japan, I assume they are running a Denso Part, not to mention I don't know how similar the Tacoma & 4Runner HVAC systems are, the blower motor housing is somewhat different than the 4Runner.

I couldn't for the life of me figure out how toyota could have messed up the tacomas so much and I couldn't find anything about the blower motor on t4r.org.

I'm going to research it some more and post what I find.

I owned a 2012 Tacoma Sport and I traded it in because of that problem along with a few others. It was fixed twice but would come back after a while. Pretty annoying on a 8 hour drive.
