Supercharger question, but not...

So i have a friend that builds motors for drag cars, and i asked him if there was anything i could do to squeezy a few mre horses out of my runner, without superchargering it...
he said not really, a supercharger would be a good way to go, and i said i didnt really want one...
i then told him that my runner HAD a supercharger right before i bought it, but now it doesnt have one...he then told me that the pistons might be cupped to have more of a compression...and without the supercharger its robbing power...
so im not sure if my runner came STOCK from the dealership with a TRD supercharger (cause i have been told that) and i dont even know if thats possible, but if it is, are the pistols cupped from the dealership?

The pistons are the same. Don't know what your friend's talking about.

Factory Supercharged or Turbocharged Toyotas usually will have lower compression than the NA models, which is achieved by different pistons. The difference is the 4Runner was NEVER factory supercharged. If it was the engine would technically be a 5VZ-FZE. The TRD SC set up would at most be dealer installed so it really is just an addition, the pistons would not have been changed. As far as your 4runners power now being effected by the supercharger of the past, do a leak down or a compression test. These will make sure the engine wasn't damaged by the extra stress of the SC.

I have a dealer installed Supercharger on my 99 4Runner. There is no difference in the pistons. The basic Supercharger gives you about 70 more HP over the stock 3.4. My understanding is the 7th injector adds another 10% to that.

It is dramatic. I shock little ricer boys all the time... No loss in driveability and the only noticable change is the whine under load.
