What motor/tranny do you have in the truck?

It wont be worth it for the ammount of cash your going to dump into it.

If you really want more power, consider swaping it for a 3.4 out of a tacoma or 4runner ( some of them came with superchargers) or as suggested above, get a v8.

Yeah to elaborate more, as far as I know, (experts please chime in) there are no direct kits for a SC. You'd have to make all your own piping, mounting, intercooler piping, etc. And as you know there isn't much room in the engine bay already.

The time it'll take making everything work in unison really wont be worth it. I'd much rather take the route that bucknutbob and some of the others have by going with the Chevy engine.

Way back when I put a turbo on a 95 eclipse (non-turbo model 420a, not the 4g63 engine). And it was a *****. I had ecu issues, fuel issues, etc.

as said above, i dont think an SC is a smart choice.

and engine swap would be good. but the 3.4 is a better choice than anything chevy.

im running a 302/5.0 in my 85 hilux. its a good fit:D
and am considering a 3.4 for my 85 runner.

Why would you want to add forced induction to a stock 3VZ? It'll spit out the headgaskets before you hate a few pounds of boost. Don't waste your time or money, the most you'll make out of just slapping a S/C on a 3VZ is maybe an extra 20+ horsepower to the wheels at over 5psi. 3VZ is a very restrictive motor that shouldn't be toy'd with. If you do end up supercharging or turbocharging your truck, I'm sure we'll see it in the classified section or craigslist being sold as a parts truck.

Be smart, do a motor swap. Friends don't let friends 3VZ or 7M.

3VZ's and 7M's were Toyota's armpit engines.

Don't bash the engine, yeah its slow, but hell they were produced for what 10+ years? And tons of them are still on the road. Mine is still going strong. Original block and tranny. and I dog the **** out of it off road.

Hell yea I had a 94 with 250k plus and beat the piss out of it in the woods as long as the head gaskets were dealt with that was a solid motor Didn't have high end but it had a fair amount of torque!

$5. Holy cow man, there are a lot things that factor into that. One......where are you located?
Has it ever been rebuilt?
Do you have the receipts for parts and labor? If not, then it hasn't been rebuilt.
Does it leak oil?
Does it burn oil?
Has the wiring been butchered over the years?
Are you going to sell the ECU and wiring harness with it?
Is it the original head gasket?
Does it qualify for the Head Gasket recall campaign?
Are you going to leave it in your 4Runner till you sell it so a potential buyer can see it running prior to the sell?
Are you going to sell the transmission and T-Case with it.
Do you have Craigslist or Green-sheets or some sort of online selling tool that is used where you live?
Have you looked on there to see what engines sell for in your area?

Anyway, I just wanted to add to the list of questions. I don't know what you will get, but I know it won't be enough to cover the cost of an engine swap. You might get enough to cover your cost of consumables though.

Google and classifieds in here and Yototech might be your friend. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/search.php?searchid=2332784

what if i pull the 3.0 out how much do you think i could sell it for it has 124xxx miles on it

It also comes down to how long you want to own the vehicle. If you plan on owning it for 10 years, by all means drop the big bucks on a new engine. I think bucknut will be buried in his lol. But if you're gonna get bored with it and trade it in in a year or 2, dont bother. 124k is nothing for your block, keep trucking.
