he is from Brooklyn fuh-gedda-bout-it
it sounds like he is asking if this supercharger will fit a V6 engine. The supercharger is made for the engine size '1grfe', but the(assuming)site only mentions a FJ or Tacoma. no mention of a 4Runner.

i dont know the answer to that sorry, my guess is no as more people would have already done it. but im not sure.

if i am not mistaken, when you initially purchase the supercharger kit you also have to purchase a seperate adapter kit which is currently available for the TACO and FJ. Unfortunately, there is no kit for the 4runner. I'm assuming this is due to the design of the engine bay which lacks space for the supercharger or some other reason I am unaware of.

like i didnt hear that remark 4 million times before

I don't think you have heard it that much, I say maybe 300 times.....lol.....

just kidding man, hey ! I am sure they would advertise it if it fit the 4Runner. I looked at it when I was at the dealer. Too expensive, and the power gains aren't that special.. So I didn't even investigate further... Plus, my car is brand new. guys who own 03 and 04's should know better. Calling the dealership might be the easiest way to get an answer. If nothing comes out of this, I will go there over the weekend and ask them...

Personally I see no reason why it shouldn't work. The engine layout for the 4R, Taco, and FJ and pretty much identical. Only thing I can possibly think of is hood clearance.

just kidding man, hey !

i know your just playing, im an italian from brooklyn so everyone jokes like that with me. it dont bother me i take it in good fun.

but anyway i was thinking of getting a 08 runner v6 limited. the truck is a demo so ill be getting it dirt cheap. i love my 05 v8,the sound is awesome but it may have to go. after i neg the price i wanted to add in a supercharger but no one can confirm if the s/c would work. i asked A techs, toyota reps but no answer.

I wanted to try and Add the TRD supercharger.
Called TRD and they said No it won't work and they are not even working on it.
The unit will bolt up and work ! But Toyota has no software upgrade for the 4runner.

v6 4runner and supercharger

Try calling URDUSA.com
I was considering the FJ SC in v6 4runner. I spoke to them and they informed me the only difference is the need to manufacture a air intake tube as the FJ does not fit. I spoke to him about URD about the factory EMS and was informed the system would work. If I am correct I recall him telling them telling me about a 4runer install on an 03+ V6 already.
Good luck. I ended up changing my mind with the gas price issue.

Interesting about noone being able to confirm this info....

Bumping this to the top as I am VERY curious. Just got done having dinner with a buddy who just installed his TRD S/C on his Taco this weekend. The thing is AWESOME. He's got SAW lift and some big 'ol tires on it and he was smoking them. The thing sounded GREAT.

It looks as if the bolting up wouldn't be the problem as there is space for everything if the engine's are somewhat similar. And the IC looks as if it would work unless it needs to bolt up in different places. But that all can be worked around. It's the software that would be a challenge. Anyone know where the "base" code comes from?

I am bumping this as well. And I am wondering about anybody installing not only TRD, but any SC or TC on their 4th gen. It is amazing to me that such a popular model doesn't get applications like this. anybody ever to anything custom, modified and existing system, Anything at all??????

First company who will develop such a system will IMO make some dough....

I think it might be a good idea to bumrush TRD with emails asking why there hasn't been a 4Runner application. I don't think it will help to get everyone on a list of "to buy" as most people back out at the last second. But at least get a list of "possible" owners that would want it, that way there is at least enough interest shown to TRD to make the application. I'm hoping to compare this coming weekend as I'm going down to SD(hopefully) this weekend to pick up my 08 Sport and I"m going to stop in San Jose and compare my buddies truck to the 4Runner in mounting points, etc. If those are all somewhat relative then it has to be something software related(which I think is all it is). I just don't know enough about the Tacos, FJ's, and 4Runners to compare all the trannys, diffs, etc. and be able to say "THAT'S why they can't do it cuz the 4Runner has this and it won't work with that."

I have been let down several times since purchasing my 05 4r on the inadequate amount of aftermarket accessories for the 4r (accessories that matter to me). From bigger lift kits to supercharger installations....there is always a catch. I dont get why they make things for both the Taco & FJ and they leave 4R out of the mix.....doesnt make sense especially if they are all similar.

But I guess nothing is perfect! Good luck with the SD research, I hope it works out for ya.

Do you have pix of your friends Taco with SD? That would be cool to see.
