Superman3043's Build Thread

Looking good, even with zero gas and your ac on in 30 degree weather, lol

Worth the wait for sure. I like the sides meeting the fenders it looks better like that.

BOBBY!!!! What's up with you man? How is everything? Good to hear from you. When are we gonna get to see yall?

A/C on in 30 degrees... Yup, that's just how I roll.

What do you mean "sides meeting the fender"? Like no gap?

We have been doing good, tired but good. Time to hit the trail soon I hope when the little guy settles down some. We should have you guys over for dinner or go out somewhere sometime. Things have just been a little busy with the newborn and time just seems to disappear. Every moment spent with my family is a moment I cherish right now. I would like to go out back one day or somewhere local.

What I meant for the about the bumper meeting the fenders is, it looks like the side wings flare out more then what I've seen, maybe they redesigned them. The gap looks good between the body and the bumper. I would make sure it's at least 3/4" though. I was checking out your flex pic's and it doesn't seem to be coming in contact during flex. You have a 1.25" B/L too? Really digging the CBI bumper.

This is what I was referring to about the fenders where they meet the body:,

My bad it was Demello's and Shrockworks front bumper that doesn't meet the fenders right IMO. The CBI is AWESOME. I like the 1 hoop prerunner look too. I can't wait to see it in person! Maybe we can hit the mild trail I have out back but it's kind of boring. If you have a chainsaw we can connect another area I have been working on out there and that might make it more interesting.

I bet man. Well congrats officially on the little one. TBH I was beginning to worry a little bit since I didn't receive any word from you guys, but I'm sure it's been crazy around your parts so I fully understand. Any time you guys are ready for dinner or want us to come out and ride that trail with you, just let me know. I don't have a chainsaw... But I got a steel bumper, haha.

Yeah I set my body gap to 3/4" and checked it flex out. Looks good to me. My BL is only 1". I'm loving the CBI as well. Especially my version :)

with any luck we can all get together ECGS should finish up my carrier swap today. with some hope it could arrive in time to be installed before saterday :thumb3:

I agree, I hadn't noticed that CBI fixed it but I did notice the gap on the SW & DO bumpers.

Bumper looks great btw! ...although your 4runner is now even more reminiscent of another white 4R on 20" rock stars.

Superman, your bumper is sick looking, i look at it and drool. Good looking machine you got there. But i got a question, when looking on CBI website, i saw the bumper which looks different then yours, i don't know if it is old model or new and it seems to be dirt cheap. I know you mentioned that you customize your bumper, but is the white bumper on the picture the got, the one you customized or there is another model?

Thanks Alex! CBI still hasn't updated their website with the new 4th gen bumper. I guess their web department is a little slow. What you see on there is the old model bumper. Their standard new one looks like this.

If you have any questions regarding this, just contact Nathan Wright at [email protected]. He'll answer any questions you have.

Standard pricing on the new bumper goes something like this:

· 4th gen front bumper $800
· Center grill Guard $100 add another $100 for headlight guards
· Upcharge for Body Lift $75.00
· Clevis shackles (if you want them) $15.99 each
· Powder coating $150.00
· Shipping $185.00 to a commercial address with loading dock or fork lift OR you can pick it up at the nearest shipping terminal. Residential delivery is $225.00.

They run specials a lot so ask about available discounts. I think they're doing 12% discount through Sunday for "Cyber Week". I paid a little extra to have the cutouts for the jack points and radiator inlets customized to my specs, but I mentioned it before, that if people want my spec, they should be able to get it free of charge since I've already paid for all of the leg work.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thank you men, i saw a price for old one and was gonna order that, but now i see more true value price compare to other stuff. I think i got to put new suspension before i put heavy bumper.

Sure, glad to help. Definitely go suspension first. You don't want to try this with stock suspension and spacers. And I highly recommend a 2.5" Coil-over. Not necessary, but nice. Especially when you consider the weight that'll be slung out there with not only the big bumper, but winch, cable, lights, shackles, stickers, or whatever else you wanna hang out there.

Good luck with your build and post pics!

Got to spend Sunday catching up with good friends. Managed to work in an easy trail ride.

Not that we came across anything that required him to lock up, but now that this thing is triple locked... It's sooo nasty! I took one gnarly hill climb on that required some bumping and jumping and then he walked up it locked like it was a flat road...

Notes

Also over this past weekend I:

- Updated my Garmin maps on my nav head unit. I was rocking the 09' maps that came with it. Bought an 2012 set used on Amazon for like $33.

- Did the Y antennae adapter fix to allow my aftermarket head unit to run both factory antennas.

- Fitted some black D-Ring shackles with red Daystar isolators to my front bumper... then promptly removed them as they looked to be something that would rattle like crazy.

- Attempted to install some in-line resistors to slow my fast-flash LED blinkers down... and failed. I shall attempt it again when I've got some time.

- Picked up a hi-lift jack from Craigslist for $30 :)

here's that fun hill lol

It was nice catching up with you guys! I had allot of fun and as always enjoyed the company. You guys are welcome to come by anytime. Hopefully I can get the trail connected so we can have a big circle connecting them. I don't know how you managed to keep your 4Runner that clean, lol. The bumper looks amazing and Austins lockers are sick!
