Hey Superman,
Now that you have had the Clazzio leather in for a year, any new thoughts? Would you still do it over again??
My next store neighbor does some amazing upholstery work but not sure he can even buy the leather to redo the seats for the same price before labor! But he sure could help me install them properly
I am thinking about getting them for my wife's birthday. We just picked up an '06 SR5 with only 55k miles on it. Having a bunch of stuff done on Wednesday for it.

Uca's bolts
"I don't know what's going on with these UCA's coming loose on me. You know that I hulk out on those things! We both had them loose the Saturday prior. My UBJ nut as well as his came loose on the ride on the passenger side. We might have hit the same obstacle that jarred them loose. Not sure. I also went in and redone my long pivot bolt nut, the one I'd already lost before... and IT was loose on my driver side after the ride. Even with a lock washer in place. So now I'm not taking any chances. Lock washer and redundant locking nut on both sides."
Noticed you say the both of you are having the uca's coming loose. What bolts are loosing? And your suggestions on a remedy?
Looks like you guys are having too much fun, great pictures. I've always admired both yours and Aha's rigs.

I've said it quite a few times on this forum and after having them for almost a year, I still stand by it. The Clazzio's are still one of my favorite mods I've done to the truck to date. Both of my local 4Runner "bros" have gotten a set since I've done mine (So I've done 3 installs now) and they are both happy with theirs as far as I know. One of them even had a Limited with factory leather. I don't think there is anything you can do for this price that steps up the look and quality of the interior more. Seeing them from the outside looking in through the windshield or windows, they look amazing. They feel great and I'm constantly getting compliments on them, even from folks with luxury cars with expensive interiors. Would I do it again? A million times!
Having a neighbor that knows upholstery help you would be a big plus but definitely not necessary. Congrats on the new Runner. Sounds like a honey of a find with those miles. Thank you sir! For this trip, we actually had the large 32mm upper ball joint nut jar loosen on us. Since this is actually a camber adjustment on the LR UCA and since we're both running such wide tires, it caused rubbing between the tires and arms. For those, all you can really do is torque them down to spec which I believe is 150 ft-lb. We had both had them loose the day prior doing suspension work and it's not really a scenario I see occurring during regular driving down the road, at least I hope not because that could be disastrous for me. I don't think most peoples tires run as close to the arms as mine do though. Just something to be mindful of out on the trails, should a vibration or thumping start to occur. The tell tale sign will be the paint on the arm being scrubbed off by the tire.
Back in the winter, I had a discussion with JDKilroy on this build thread about another issue with the nut that actually holds the long pivot bolt that attaches the arm to the chassis coming loose and the bolt backing out. Also a pretty big issue. Here is the discussion Jon started on it. Mine was loose after this ride as well. Again, I had it loose doing work on it the day prior. Seems to only occur on the driver side for me. Torque spec on these are around 85 ft-lb I believe, but good luck getting a torque wrench on them. It might be doable on a V6, but it's quite tricky on a V8. I've used secondary locking nuts as mentioned in these threads successfully. Just don't torque the first nut too tight before adding the second one or you'll bind the arm up and possible break the bushing ring on the arm. I've done this (had the nuts too tight) and it really didn't allow the arm to move like it needed to easily. Also somebody over on Toyota120 actually had a bushing ring break. I've even used split lock washers, which seem to do fine on initial install but not as well if you re-use them without spreading the washer back out to regain some of the spring force (done this too). Just keep an eye on them. Hope that answers your question.
So this weekend has been pretty much a total washout for me. I've got a grill and some freshly baked headlights that I'd like to install, but no cooperation from the weather. Living room looks a mess lol:

Thank Superman, the v-6 you can get in there to torque for your fyi.
With there new set up on the rubber and flat washers doesn't seem to have much a problem, so far. After next weekend run, might just go back in there and put some lock tight on them
As far as the ball joint, I just check the torque on them periodically as there easy to get to. Might try the lock tight there too and mark my setting.
Living rooms not a mess, just a clean clutter. Besides kicking back and relaxing every now and then never hurts anyone, I know, when I was at your guys age, COULDN'T SIT DOWN FOR 5 MINUTES, got to be doing something.

Awesome! Well this is going to be my wife's truck. We have a 2007 Saturn Vue paid off. But my parents lost their business in the recession and have been struggling to find work. My mom who is the only one with a steady job at a school cafeteria, drives a 1994 Buick that is falling apart (Even though it only has 80k miles on it). So we are giving the Vue to my parents.
We had a 1999 4Runner we put 200k on and traded it in a few years ago. Nothing major wrong with it- it was a great truck. So when we went shopping for a new mid-size SUV I gravitated to the 4Runner. 5th generation seem to big and 4th are awesome looking. My wife loved the GMC Acadia, but after I read her the Edmunds user reviews she decided against it. She just loved the interior and says Toyota are just not as luxurious as she wants. I convinced her tol get a nice 4Runner and I would deck it out. I am having the following done:
- New Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS head unit with backup camera and bluetooth mic.
- Adding factory bluetooth controls to the steering wheel.
- New Polk Audio speakers in all 4 doors.
- Sound deadening in all 4 doors.
- Remote starter and nice alarm.
And now I guess Clazzio! I ordered their sample packet to look at colors.

haha, yeah trust me, mine isn't thrilled about it. She tolerates me though. This is one of those "better to ask forgiveness than permission" scenarios. I'd love to be doing my work in a nice shop or garage, but we currently reside in an apartment ATM, so I'm just trying to do the best I can with what I've got.
Thanks, my boy Bobby told me he can get a torque wrench on his no problem, and when I looked at mine, I was like "no way"... Just dawned on me that he has a V6.
Little locktite would probably do the trick. Keep in mind on that large UBJ nut though, you're already torquing 150 ft-lb. Having to break that PLUS some thread locker, probably wouldn't be fun.
I always make time to relax Leonard. My wife and I like to enjoy our time "chill time" while we can since it's about to get crazy around here. We're expecting the arrival of our first little one in less than 3 months, so we better relax while we still can
That's great that you're helping out with the folks man. I know many of us are still reeling from the recession (ourselves included), so it's great to be able to lend a hand when you can.
Glad you guys chose the Runner over the GMC. I think in the long run, you'll be glad you did. I agree with the Mrs. though, in that the interiors aren't the most "luxurious", but with a little effort, they can be whatever you want them to.
She'll love the Clazzio's. Just some further suggestions for you on how to spend your money:
- Maybe opt for a NAV HU. I love mine.
- As far as the factory BT steering wheel controls go. I'd say they're not really necessary unless you just really gotta have that button on the wheel. Your BT HU will come with a button that you can mount wherever you'd like. I've got mine just in front of my cupholder. I've got my mic mounted on my A-pillar. Also, unless you want to spend the extra money to keep your steering wheel controls for volume, mode and fwd/rev, I've found it not really necessary as most of the higher end HU's (yours included) come with a remote, and I find myself using that most of the time.
- Definitely do the LED swap on the interior. Cheap and easy and makes a world of difference.
- If you really want to change the look dramatically, do an LED gauge and center stack swap.
- Also, not totally necessary for the wife if she's just using it as a DD, but if you get some Weathertechs to match your Clazzio's it'll dramatically transform the interior. They're very nice for keeping the trash inside of the liners and to clean them, you just dump them out and hose them off. The rear one-piece is sort of a PITA to remove and replace, but it has to be to work as well as it does.
Anyway man, just trying to plant some more seeds. If it's anything that we here at T4R.org are good for, it's helping others spend their hard earned cash on trucks, lol! Have fun!
My wife has been out of town and we hadnt bought the car yet. We were waiting for the owner to get the title in the mail. I got it Friday after she flew out. I told her we still didnt have it. I surprised her and picked her up at the airport in it
Technically the unit I am getting is Nav- well sort of. All you do is hook up an iPhone or Android phone and using the AppRadio functions you can get gps. And with an Android phone, you can get a special app that allows you full access and control to the phone via the head unit. Great for maps, music, audio books, ect. Nah... I've watched a lot of pro golf and believe me, my golf game is beyond help. But when somebody calls with free tickets... Work can wait.
As far as rocking the "V8" only? I've considered that too. Also buying one of those big FJ "TOYOTA" emblems or doing something custom all together like a stormtrooper or something. Just working with what I got for now.

You should get this sign in white and the wording underneath "man of steel because of your bumper and put it on the grill.
It was my pleasure to send you those lights, they look good, but I was hoping to see retrofits. JK, I know they are a lot of whole money.
X2 for a superman emblem up front PD that would definitely kick ass!
after looking at the pics on the desktop, I like the look of the emblems when looking at it head on; however, I like the no emblem look looking at it from an angle. not sure if the expanded metal is just glossy putting off a glare at an angle or if it looks less "blacked out" at an angle.
