Supra725 Build Thread

got a question..

my rig is slowly creeping to the 300k club and what kind of tune up would be recommended?

I have in mind.

-spark plugs and wires
-pcv valve
-change oil and filter
-transmission fluid
-rear diff, front diff, transfer case fluid
-fuel filter
-new radiator? or replace the coolant.
-timing belt?
-fuel pump?

most of that isn't very expensive...

it just depends on how long it has been since it was changed last...

preventative maintenance is the best maintenance....

however, with a rig that has 300k!!!!!!! i would consider looking for another 4runner with less mileage unless you are the original owner and know how your rig has been treated....

i threw in the towel at 265k and bought one with 120k........ your rig looks to be in good condition... i would get some $$$$ while you still can and swap over your upgrades tot he new one....

just my .02 Supra725

OP is the original owner. Totally worth it IMO. Besides... you don't throw out old 4Runners; you fix them!

I'm looking at an second car to stop piling the milage up on the runner.

you are on the money, the rig has been in the family since 6 miles back in 1999.

well..

finally one of the dash light burned out and I was thinking about switching it to led's.

does anyone have the list for all the bulbs for it? anyone have a write out on how to change out the bulbs?

so I had an issue tonight..

while getting out my car, I hit the lock switch but it didn't click all the way.. I checked the fuse and is all good.. I'm leaning towards either battery going downhill or the actual solenoid itself.. the battery is about 15 months old. sometimes when I go crank it, it take a little more time than it should be..

what could it be?

also, the passenger sides axle seals is going again.... I don't know if i should dump more $$ into it and fix both the seals again for the 5th time or what...

well. friend of mine recommend an local metal shop..

I asked him for an replica of the shrockworks front bumper and the cbi rear bumper design..

his price is $900 for the front before paint and $1200 for the rear cbi style bumper before paint.

is that an okay price before paint? the shrockworks is about $1049 before shipping + paint and about $1900 before shipping..

the builder recommended painting it vs powder coating.. but I'm leaning towards powder coating it vs painting it.. I don't mind spending a few more coin on it looking nice than crap. did anyone painted theirs?

well. I went by the dealer yesterday to pick up some parts.. and while i was there, they had an trd double cab tacoma.. and when i saw the sticker.. I almost fainted.. they are asking close to $46k for it.. when did the tacoma's get that pricey?

that's Tundra price territory we are looking at.. hell, I can probably squeeze an crew cab diesel with the price i be paying for an tacoma.
