Supra725 Build Thread

I know, I'm going to take a look at it this weekend (99 Highlander)

on a side note, I was at an junk yard with an friend and saw the highlander black fender flares (similar to COB's).. with the mudflaps and hardware for $60..

question, should I take it and repaint it to flat black or plastic dip it?

i say definitely grab em! they are hard to find and i believe COB dipped his flares. i dunno though, his look good. message him and ask him what he did to his.
 
the guy at the yards said "we always have them" so I will probably pick it up later this month...

So, on Monday.. I gave her a bath after 4 months of not washing it.. ( is been raining and sunny the past 2 months) odd weather for this time of the month..

Sorry for the uber long update.

Been busy with school and work..

GottaBeTRD,

after putting the sticker on.. I realized something.. my friend had just ordered budbuilts for his 4th gen and guess what.. they send him wrong cross member twice and none seem to fit unless it was hit with an hammer..

to top things off, my runner has some light scratches from the wheeling trip over and weekend..

However, I did manage to score some newer running boards for my rig.. Hopefully, I can install it today when I get them.
 
sorry for no updates for the past month...

with school and work, barely have time to do mods...

but I have something planned,

-led kit for the interior
-led tails
-hella micro de with h3 hid conversion ( my puppy decides to chew through the wiring )
-hopefully some sliders.. (probably be shrockworks)

and from last time when I went wheeling, the running boards got a little bend..
 
guess what....

she is now in the 250k club..

after owning it for almost 13 years... she is finally reached quarter million miles...
 
sorry for the late late update..

hopefully with the tax returns, I'm thinking about purchasing an pair of Shrockwork's Sliders..

my question is, should I bolt it on or weld it on?

another thing.. I painted the rock guard's on the Piaa's and now they are being dried as we speak..
 
Bolt on is fine if you aren't going to be wheeling it very hard. It will put more stress on your frame. I'd call up Jerry at Bay Area Metal Fab and see if he can weld them on for you. He is located in El Sobrante and welds sliders for a good price.

90 is very cheap most place charge 100-130 a hour for offroad stuff, i toss the trailqueer hardware in the trash (mounting plates, gussets), and got ruff stuff hardware, they are way more beefy and probably the strongest way you can weld on your sliders. imo weld on is the only way to go, you will never wheel hard enough that your frame breaks, thats just not possible with our truck's capability, but you will bend them up if you bolt them on, and bolts decrease the frames strength, becasue you are not using its full surface contact like a welded on plate. i hope that makes enough sense to change your mind. i only tell you this because i dont want you to get any door or frame damage on the 4runner, i could care less if some dude with a jeep is asking me.

last time when I went wheeling.. it was like.. ' I need sliders ' but I just put it off for way too long..

for the sliders, would the shrockworks support be sufficient enough for welding? if not, where would I be able to pick up the ruff stuff hardware?

hopefully this years tax returns wouldn't be as crappy like last year.. since I'm also due for some new tires too..

on top off all this, I almost got into 2 accidents this week.. one was some guy in an Prius pulling out from the parking lot and coming into my lane (half of his car came into my lane)

second, some lady decides it was cool to turn into my lane while making an left turn..

jerry is very busy right now so make sure to give him a call b4 hand, shrockwork is fine but way over priced imho, i would get the 4x innovation sliders, which is half the cost and their slider have rear kick out to protect your rear fender, and for gussets, you can just get some from jerry. his gussets are stronger than all the other companies.

how long did it take you to receive your sliders? and does the sliders stick out enough to be used as an step?

i bought mine on craigslist for 80 bucks lol and the extra 40 for the ruff stuff gusset. jerry makes real good ones, beeffest slider you'll ever seen. give him a rig or let me know since i see him all the time.

My timing belt is due for an change and I was wondering what's the reasonable price range for it? I would also like to switch out the plugs, wires, valve cover gasket, transfer case oil, diff oil, atf oil too while I at it..

also, are these kits alright?

300 for labor and 350 for toyota timing belt kit, second one is the one i would choose.
plugs-ngk copper
wires- toyota
valve cover gasket-toyota
transfer case oil, front diff oil - any brand 75w90
rear diff oil, 80w90 anybrand
atf oil- dex3 any brand
